Take the time and effort to meet with all the institutions block transfer, bridging, flexible pre-major? - Is this project formalizing course-by-course? Or figuring out what we ALL share? (for example: core + certifications) - Or is a one-year core more suitable? - Movement to accept the common curriculum for the Block (rather than contentspecific) - Double transfer issues students doing a year and then transferring to a college for a diploma, then transferring for a degree - Ensuring that individuality and uniqueness at each instruction is maintained o Is the uniqueness an issue at the lower level (core) vs. the upper level (receiving/degree-granting institutions) - SWOT Analysis detailed analysis strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & threats o Why and what are we doing (first) and then the structure will come into place? - UVic, UBC, SFU is there a point to participating (student enrolment is not an issue)? - Challenge is that the larger the block (i.e., 60 credits), the less flexible it will become 4
5 - Is a hybrid model like 40 credits + bridging credits a better solution? (using a common core) - What is the upside & downside? (SWOT Analysis) = Paul - KINS as a profession or a discipline? - Goals/Steps for proposal submission date is May 23, 2014 (letter of intent): 1. SWOT Analysis i.e., flexible pre-major help our students with their mobility across institutions, what are the barriers, what are our options to address these barriers, etc. 2.
