WEBSITE CHECK LIST When redesigning or moving to a new website or domain there are a few things to consider to help preserve your existing search engine rankings. We ve created a checklist of tasks to do when changing over to your new website. Before website launch (If using a brand new domain) - Make sure 301 redirects are in place. This tells Google that your website has changed its web address and that it needs to redirect to your new one. (Using existing domain) - Redirect your old page URLS to your new ones using a 301 redirect. Make sure that each of your pages has a unique Meta Title and Meta Description. Check your page for any spelling mistakes. Check the links on each page of your website to make sure they are working properly. Check the load speed of any images you ve uploaded on your website. If they are taking a while to load, reduce the file size and upload again. Check that all contact information including telephone numbers and addresses are accurate and up to date. Check that the lesson information on your timetable page is accurate and up to date. If this is not the case then go to myma and update your lesson details. Place a test booking on your timetable page. Make sure that the details displayed on the booking confirmation page are accurate and that you have received a booking confirmation email (one for the instructor and one for the test student). Check your cookies, privacy policy and terms pages to make they are populated. Page 43 of 57

After website launch Check all links are working properly on all of your pages. Check that all pages are displaying properly along with any images. Make sure that any 301 redirects you have set up are working properly by visiting your old domain or urls and making sure they redirect to your new website. Place a test booking on your timetable page. Make sure that the details displayed on the booking confirmation page are accurate and that you have received a booking confirmation email (one for the instructor and one for the test student). If you use Google Search Console, login and do Fetch as Google to submit your website for reindexing. (If using a brand new domain) - Update your website address on any social media you use e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus. (If using a brand new domain) - Update your website address on any third party websites you might be visible e.g. Yell, Yelp etc (If using a brand new domain) - Update your Google Map listing if you have one. Page 44 of 57

YOAST SEO PLUGIN (OPTIONAL) Your myma Website uses a third party SEO plugin by Yoast that gives you the ability to optimise your pages for search engines. When editing your pages you will see the Yoast Plugin at the bottom of each page: Page 45 of 57

While the use of this plugin is optional it is worth taking some time to learn about basic SEO fundamentals that can help your website in the search engine results. For a beginners guide on SEO visit the following resource to find out more https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo Yoast SEO basic set up At the very least, the following items should be set up in the Yoast SEO plugin: SEO Title - (otherwise known as title or meta title) Slug - This is the URL of the page that you are creating Meta Description - This is the description that appears in search engines Focus keyword - this is the key word that you are trying to target with this page To set up these items, click on Edit Snippet Page 46 of 57

This is where you should try and put your main keyword. In this example the keyword is Martial Arts Classes Nottingham This is the URL of your page. You should try to include your keyword here but try to write a description that encourages people to click through to your website. This is the main keyword that you want to focus on. The plugin uses this to make recommendations on where you might need to include the keyword on our page to improve the SEO of it. This analyses your page and makes recommendations on how you can improve it for search engines.
