Roles: Emergency Director: Directs all aspects of emergency training and planning. During the emergency he/she communicates with the Emergency Team to ensure everyone is evacuated, communicates with leaders of Assembly Areas to ensure all employees are accounted for and communicates with the Fire Department to determine when it is safe to reenter the building. The current Director is Mr. Matt Matisak. In his absence the Director will be Andrew McTighe. In their absence Celines Jumelles shall serve as Director. Safety Coordinator: Arranges for periodical inspections of fire safety equipment. The Safety Coordinator is Muharem Delic Jacksonville Campus Emergency Team: Sounds the fire alarm and directs the evacuation of people out of the building. Jacksonville Campus Fire/Emergency Evacuation for Campus Areas The objective of this plan is to reduce the possibility of harm to employees, facility and visitors to the Jacksonville Campus in the event of an emergency. Care must be taken to ensure that all occupants are aware of the following basic procedures: 1. Upon direction/instruction of the Emergency Committee designees (Jacksonville Campus Emergency Team), immediately evacuate the building upon hearing the building alarm. 2. The Jacksonville Campus Emergency Team will assemble in strategic locations as marked on the Jacksonville Campus map to internally direct people to the closest Emergency exit not impacted by the Jacksonville Campus emergency. 3. Emergency Committee designees (assigned department managers) will check their assigned zones to ensure all are evacuated on their way to the Assembly areas. 4. If possible a check of the Jacksonville Campus should be made electronically. NO ONE IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE JACKSONVILLE CAMPUS during a fire alarm. All IT and Facilities staff with access shall be trained in the fire suppression system. 5. The Jacksonville Campus Emergency Team will direct people to the designated safe haven area located outside the building. Before leaving the building, the Emergency Team will search offices in their assigned zone to ensure all have left area and then close all doors. a. There shall be 1 assembly area: This area is the parking lot beside the campus designated for student parking. Each department will gather their students in pods in the lot and proceed with roll and head count of students and staff. 6. At the assembly area, a head count of each department will be taken to ensure that everyone is present and accounted for. Department Directors shall report the final head count to the Emergency Director or designee. Names of any missing personnel must be given to the Emergency Director or designee. Training and Preparation Plan 1. In each hallway the following will be posted indicating the following: a. Evacuation route map 2
b. Location of assembly areas 2. The Jacksonville Campus Emergency Team will be trained on the fire suppression system. 3. All new IT employees or facilities employees with access to the Jacksonville Campus will be trained prior to gaining access to the Jacksonville Campus. 4. The Emergency Committee will assign a staff member/safety Coordinator to periodically inspect the Center each ensure the following: a. all exit doors are unlocked and accessible to Center occupant s b. All exit lights are working properly c. All corridors and doors leading to exits are clear d. There are no decorations hanging from sprinkler heads of fire alarm devices f. Fire alarm devices and sprinkler heads are not obstructed g. All signs are in place and up to date 5. All Jacksonville Campus employees will be advised of proper fire protection and evacuation practices. This document will be posted on our employee portal and a copy contained in the Jacksonville Campus Manual. 2 Copies of the manual will be available. a. One copy will be located in the Executive Director s Office. b. The second copy will be located in the Maintenance supervisor office desk. 6. Evacuation and Fire drills will be conducted semi-annually. The fire department should be notified of the drill. The Emergency Director shall keep a record of all drills. 7. In case of emergency or drill, all personnel should leave the building in an orderly manner - Walk, Don t Run. The Emergency team should search their offices in the Center, closing all doors before leaving. Additionally the Director or other assigned personnel will search all areas within the campus and ensure that all occupants have been safely evacuated. 8. Physically challenged people will be provided with assistance to exit the building. 9. At the assembly area, a head count of each department will be taken to ensure that everyone is present and accounted for. Department Directors/Mangers shall report the final head count to the Emergency Director or designee. Names of any missing personnel must be given to the Emergency Director or designee. 3
