Portland Campus The school was founded in 1919 and opened this building in 1992. The school offers courses at five campuses across the state, and in 16 communities in the Northwest, reaching 650 students each year.

Recognition o o o o o The School is the primary supplier of nurse practitioners in the state. OHSU established the state s first and only PhD nursing program in 1985. The School is consistently recognized in the top 10 in America by US News and World Report. The School of Nursing s Midwifery program is ranked first in the country according to U.S. News and World Report. The School of Nursing ranks in the top 15 in National Institutes of Health research funding, having tripled NIH funding in 3 years.
Community Outreach OHSU teaches, provides care, and conducts research in countless sites in the region including patients homes, homeless shelters, migrant clinics, hospices, and schools.
OHSU School of Nursing Simulation Lab and Technology Many of our School of Nursing classrooms use technology that includes computers, the Internet, videoconferencing, databases, simulation labs, and CD-ROM. Most of this technology use is part of everyday modern life. We incorporate its use in our classrooms to connect across distances and because it reflects the world our students will be working in.

OCNE In 2001, the OHSU School of Nursing joined with other Oregon schools in an new partnership, the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE). Established in response to the critical nursing shortage, OCNE enables Oregon nursing programs to dramatically expand their capacity and enrollment, while preparing graduates with competencies to address the rapidly changing health care needs of Oregon s aging and ethnically diverse populations.

Bachelor of Science Program of Study This is a three year program where students take a combination of nursing and non-nursing courses. OHSU does not offer non-nursing courses, so students will typically y be dually enrolled at another 4 year university to complete their non-nursing coursework. Students who have all of the required non-nursing nursing courses will progress through this program on a part time schedule. Clinical coursework occurs throughout the program and is located in multiple g p g p sites throughout Oregon.

Bachelor of Science Prerequisites Courses need to be completed with a C or better Anatomy and Physiology year long series with lab Intermediate Algebra/Math 95 or higher competency Nutrition - Written English/English Composition (WR 121 & 122 or equivalent) - 6 quarter credits Social Science Electives - 6 quarter credits Lifespan Human Development Electives Up to 8 quarter credits: to meet the minimum 45 credits required for entry to nursing school. Electives may include any course from an accredited institution that is 100 level or higher.
Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing Admission Requirements Applicants Must Have a minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for application review. Only prerequisite courses will be used in the GPA calculation. Have at least 30 prerequisite credits accumulated including A&P I and Intermediate Algebra/Math 95 or higher by the end of Fall term. Students who are selected for admission to the nursing program must complete the remainder of the 45 credits prior to enrolling.
Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing Applying to the Program Applications are only available online for a Fall entry term. Application submission deadline is typically February 15 prior to the fall term in which you wish to be admitted. Accelerated Bachelor Science In order to meet the growing demand for nursing education for people who already have a bachelor s degree in another field, OHSU School of Nursing is offering an Accelerated Bachelor s of Science with a major in Nursing degree program (ABS). Once admitted, students will complete a five quarter program composed of only the nursing courses required to achieve a B.S. with a major in Nursing. This program will prepare the graduate for RN licensure and will also give interested students the necessary credentials to pursue a graduate degree in nursing. The Accelerated Bachelor of Science is only offered on the Portland campus at this time.

Midwifery Specialty Currently the OHSU SoN Nurse Midwifery if program is ranked first in the nation by US News & World Reports. For those who are passionate about promoting healthy births, healthy women and healthy babies. All students rotate through our faculty practice here at OHSU which allows students to work with their faculty members during clinical lectures and hands on experiences.
Psychiatric Mental Health NP Specialty Focuses on the promotion of mental health for individuals, id families, and groups across the lifespan PMHNPs work in partnership with their clients to provide care for the whole PMHNPs work in partnership with their clients to provide care for the whole individual using nursing science and psychological theory to understand how mental health affects overall health.
