unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation. B. Formed Concrete Surfaces: Remove fins and projections. Fill voids, rock pockets, form-tie holes, and other defects with cementitious patching material as required. C. Seal small cracks and joints with sealant materials using depth to width ratio as recommended by sealant manufacturer in accordance with Section 07 90 00. D. Prepare surfaces, as required, for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions. E. Mark finished grade with chalk line along top edge of Platon installation. 3.3 INSTALLATION AS A VERTICAL FOUNDATION PROTECTOR A. Install in sequence in accordance with Certainteed Platon 40-98-04A Installation Guide. B. Install full height membrane sheets whenever practical. Overlap multiple membrane rolls horizontally six inches (6 ) when height from footing to finished grade exceeds roll height. Where upper roll overlaps lower roll, secure top edge of lower roll with Speedclips 12 inches (305 mm) on center; no sealant or Platon Molding required. C. Hold top edge of membrane along grade line in place with: 1) - Speedclips (sealant required) or 2) - Speedstrips (no sealant required) or 3) - Speedclips and Platon Molding (no sealant required). D. Fasten Speedclips 12 inches (305 mm) on center along the top edge of the membrane. Each Speedclip engages four (4) dimples. When using Speedclips only and not Speedstrips or Platon Molding, caulk between smooth tab along top edge and wall sealing open gaps. E. Fasten Speedstrips along grade line through holes in fastening area starting at center and working to ends. ¼ gap between ends of contiguous Speedstrips. F. Install Platon molding at beginning and ends of installation or along top edge of membrane at grade line in conjunction with Speedclips. G. Coordinate with installation of foundation drainage piping at the base of foundation specified in Section 33 46 13.13. H. Caulk items protruding to or penetrating through membrane. I. Installation of cast-in-place concrete footings is specified in Section 03 31 13. J. Placement of backfill fill is specified in 31 23 23.13. Do not displace membrane during placement. 07 13 54-4

3.4 INSTALLATION AS A SUBFLOOR MOISTURE BARRIER A. No accessories are required. B. Clean surfaces of debris. C. Install first Platon membrane sheet with dimples facing downwards; cut to length; cut off smooth tab. D. Install subsequent membrane sheets overlap previous roll 2 rows of dimples; tape seams with exterior flashing tape. E. Install min. 7/16 OSB t&g subfloor over Platon membrane and fasten at room perimeter with concrete screws or nails; fasten where vertical movement occurs. F. Install laminate flooring over laminate underpad over Platon membrane following manufacturer s instructions for the laminate flooring. 3.5 INSTALLATION AS UNDERSLAB DAMPROOFING A. No accessories are required. B. Install Platon membrane sheets with dimples facing downwards over crushed stone substrate. Reinforcement is subsequently installed atop Platon membrane in accordance with Section 03 20 00 and concrete is poured atop Platon membrane in accordance with Section 03 31 13. C. Overlap rolls using the smooth edge to overlap adjacent dimpled edge; seal with continuous bead of butyl rubber sealant. Exterior flashing tape may be used to secure edges prior to concrete pour. 3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Request inspection prior to and immediately after placing membrane and before placing backfill. 3.7 PROTECTION A. Protect installed products until completion of project. B.
