1 General information G.G.G. Elettromeccanica S.r.l., established in 1962, started with the production of electrical transformers. In 1976 it changed its production to special vehicles equipment. The conversion, which required wider buildings and new facilities, was completed in the early '80s. Since 2000 the company started a new division called Robotica which operates in CAD CAM design 3D and produces C.N.C. robot. Robotica was born to offer a valid support in the production line of special vehicles. Today G.G.G. Elettromeccanica has three different divisions: Special Vehicles, Robotica and Research and Development. G.G.G. Elettromeccanica Srl is located in Catania and operates in the national market with its customer service. The company employs 32 person in offices, R&D and production. 3

3 Quality system The company takes advantage of a quality system. Both IQNET (International Certification Network) as CISQ/RINA certify that the company, for the design and construction of ambulances and Special Vehicles and construction of numerical control machines activities, has implemented and maintains a Quality Management System which fulfils the requirement of the ISO 9001:2008 standard. The company who started the development of the quality system in 1995, obtained the certification in 1996. Since 2007 the company obtained the certification for the Environmental Management System according to standard ISO 14001/2004 5

4 Management and Structure The company is managed by the Administrator and by two coordinators, for trading and production activities respectively. The management has always been characterized by the maximum seriousness from a financial, technical and commercial point of view therefore the company is held in great esteem by customers, suppliers, banks and technical control authorities. During the last five years the company increased the turn over at an annual rate of more than 20%. The factory which lays over 6000 square meters, 4500 of which are covered, includes offices, materials and products store, two production departments, and a show room; It is located in the industrial zone of Catania on the east coast of Sicily, at the Freeway network junction connecting with Palermo, Messina, Siracusa and Gela. It is close to the railway station, to the airport (which is connected to the main European cities) and to the port. The Plant includes: Offices for general administration, trading, marketing and advertising, graphic design, technical design and product development with data system elaboration in local area, two servers and 15 pc stations for administration, trading, marketing, advertising, graphic art, office automation, Cad, technical design and modem web. 8

5 Staff The company, which avails itself of the contribution of three owners, employs 32 people, 9 in offices, 4 in R&D and 19 in work production. The staff, which has been working in the company for a long time, has gained good specialization and high proficiency, which are improved by continuous training. 7 Products & Market Special Vehicles Division The Special Vehicles Division activity concerns the production of vehicles and trailers equipped for special use including: Ambulance Mobile Blood Bank Special Vehicles for Disabled Person Mobile Ambulatory Special Vehicles for medical use Rough Terrain Tool Carriers Mobile Office Special Vehicles for emergency Professional Special Vehicles Bus The company operates in the national market with public (National Health Service, Red Cross), transport companies, private customers and volunteers associations. Production capacity: The plant production capacity is 100-120 Vehicles/year and the actual production is about 80% of capacity. An increase of production capacity, and the robotization of some works, is planned for the next year. 18
The standard models production covers 80%, while the other 20% is custom designed. Each produced vehicle, even if it is a standard type, is treated as a single production order, with the complete documentation of materials and work employed for it. The firm work equipment allows a good variety of tasks using different integrated technologies; both the design capability as the production organization allow a total flexibility for custom designed products. Robotica Division The Robotica Division activity concerns production of Robot and CNC Machine for cut, mill and modelling: Robot CNC plasma technology for metal cut. Robot CNC laser technology for no-metal cut and carve. Robot CNC for no-metal modelling 3D. Robot CNC for no-metal mill. Robotica Division offer a CNC machine service for cut, mill and modelling. 19
8 R&D The Company effort in Research & Development has been relevant in the past years, as a 4% of turn over were yearly spent in new products and technology development. G.G.G. Elettromeccanica takes part with its R&D Division at following European Project for Industry and Technological Research: Program Craft-CEE : Integrated Chassis-Body Concept of Low Production Volume of Vehicle; Program P.O.M. - Ministero of Industry - F.E.S.R.: Technological Research for automation of production project; Program P.O.P. - Sicily Department: Development of Innovative Technology in Minibus production; Program MURST: Project Innovative material Cluster C26. Project P.O.N.: Hybrid propulsion systems for industrial vehicles designed for passenger transport, and merchandise distribution in urban areas. (In collaboration with CRF and CTM ) Project MIMOSA: Micro cars with ecological propulsion systems, modular, and reliable for every type of use.
