2 PRESENTATION Habitat Italiana was founded in Specialized in furniture contract turn key for hotels, offices, residences, conference halls and hospitals. More recently Habitat widened its range of operation to shops, franchising networks, office networks for insurance companies, bank branches. The company takes care of all the line, from the project to the industrialization of the items and their production, down to the distribution and installation in Europe and overseas. One of the main features of the company is the customization of the production, that can realize any drawings and samples that the customer indicates. Thanks to its logistic organization, the iper modern productive structures, the machineries, the very light and nimble organization and structure and the long time experience, can offer top quality at very competitive costs, giving a strong cost effective service at the top quality specifications. Habitat has a strong mobility and can intervene at snapping timing in its global market both for reassortment of raw materials and specialized workings and for supplying and turn key services. Habitat owns a sq meters factory in Brescia, on a sq meters area; a plant of sq meters and a general office for coordination, buying, logistics and projects in Schio (Vicenza). The list of Habitat realizations, in over 25 years, covers all the fields of furniture and plants supply, in most of the European and main overseas countries, with the cooperation of the most famous international architects and engineers. The last challenge of Habitat Italiana was the creation in year 2002 of the RAILS A.S.R.S. (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems) division, specialized in the mechatronics, robotic and automation for the archival, librarian and documentary deposits. RAILS produces and installs fully automated equipment that can provides a sharp reduction (-75%) of the yearly management costs, together with a sensible knock down of the installation costs (down to up to 50%) owed primarily to the elimination of a great part of infrastructure not necessary when an automated system is introduced in a deposit. The area dedicated to deposit can be shrunk down to 1/12th if compared with the traditional systems.
