SUSTAINABLE-ORGANIC-BIODYNAMIC Many of our featured wines are made by wineries and winemakers that go to great lengths to ensure their practices will not impact the ecosystems they operate in. As well as encourage its sustainability. Farming in an Eco-friendly way is a philosophy which often affects the final cost of these products due to very strict government regulations and the intensity of labor involved to meet such standards. The final result is a wine with a sense of place and true varietal expression, made in respect of our planet and the health of those living beings we share it with. If you who would like to support these producers look for those wines marked with this sign: Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing. ~ Ernest Hemingway 1
LIBRARY SELECTIONS Limited Availability Meritage, Sloan 2001 $960 Good deep, ruby-red color. Ripe aromas of bitter cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, violet and brown spices. At once ripe and dry, with good energy and firm structure leavened by a truffley sweetness and leather and tobacco leaf notes that of a Bordeaux. A very nicely delineated, juicy, classically styled wine that finishes with firm tannic spine. But hardly an easy style, and in need of a bit of patience. Amarone della Valpolicella, Dal Forno Romano 1998 $850 Deep ruby-red color, ripe, port-like aromas of hazelnut and raisin, very sweet and rich on the palate; a floral note adds flavor, finishes very long. Amarone della Valpolicella, Dal Forno Romano 2002 $675 Romano Dal Forno crafts a product unlike any other in Valpolicella. Using strict vineyard management and sophisticated technique in the cellar he achieves density, weight, complexity and polish that simply don t exist in concert in the wines of any other producer. Dal Forno s Amarone well deserves its reputation as one of Italy s best. Valpolicella, Dal Forno Romano, Superiore 2003 $266 Aromas of black fruit, vanilla bean and coffee. Very full-bodied with gripping tannins. Cannonau di Sardegna, Dettori Tenores, Romangia, Sardegna 2005 $245 Rose red color unfiltered rich, sweet, blackberry, cinnamon and leather on the nose sweet and balanced on the palate long, spicy finish 16% ALC by vol 3
