As well as encourage its sustainability. Farming in an Eco-friendly way is a philosophy which often affects the final cost of these products due to very strict government regulations and the intensity of labor involved to meet such standards. The final result is a wine with a sense of place and true varietal expression, made in respect of our planet and the health of those living beings we share it with. At once ripe and dry, with good energy and firm structure leavened by a truffley sweetness and leather and tobacco leaf notes that of a Bordeaux. A very nicely delineated, juicy, classically styled wine that finishes with firm tannic spine. But hardly an easy style, and in need of a bit of patience. Amarone della Valpolicella, Dal Forno Romano 1998 $850 Deep ruby-red color, ripe, port-like aromas of hazelnut and raisin, very sweet and rich on the palate; a floral note adds flavor, finishes very long. Amarone della Valpolicella, Dal Forno Romano 2002 $675 Romano Dal Forno crafts a product unlike any other in Valpolicella. Using strict vineyard management and sophisticated technique in the cellar he achieves density, weight, complexity and polish that simply don t exist in concert in the wines of any other producer.
