Presentation of the company and the product General Information of the Company Name ECOBETON Italy s.r.l. Office Via G. Galilei, 47 36030 Costabissara (VI) Telephone 0444 971893 Fax 0444 971896 e-mail web info@ecobeton.it www.ecobeton.it Company On initiative of Domenico Carollo, a concrete expert, Ecobeton Italy was founded in 1998, in close partnership with Ecobeton International AS, a Norwegian company that deals with quality solutions for the construction industry. In the following years Ecobeton grows in competence and turnover. Today Ecobeton is led by Ing. Alberto Carollo and a competent and flexible staff. Ecobeton deals with the protection and durability of the constructions. Ecobeton develops and markets products and systems designed for the complete protection of concrete and building materials. Through the use of selected raw materials, Ecobeton provides effective and environmentally friendly solutions. Always committed to invest in the quality of the processes and potential of people, Ecobeton makes the ongoing research and dialogue with the customer its key points of the company. Ecobeton supports the philosophy of corporate social responsibility by offering eco-friendly and non-toxic products in the full respect for human beings and the environment. Product Vetrofluid is a special waterproofing agent for protecting concrete from deterioration. The formula is based on waterglass with a special catalyst which allows the product to penetrate into the concrete to a depth up to 40 mm. It seals the pores in the concrete and becomes a permanent barrier. EverCrete Vetrofluid can be applied to waterproof and protect all types of concrete permanently. Technical features: Composition Proprietary blend of aqueous waterglass Density 1,100-1,150 kg per litre Shelf life 36 mesi if stored sealed Infiammability None Coverage rate 250/500 gr per sq. m. Environmental risk none Organic properties Colorless, odorless liquid Storage Store frost free and keep tightly sealed, away from glass and aluminium Toxicity none Dilution None, ready to use Curing 36 days. Foot traffic after a few hours 2
Uses: Foundation walls, to waterproof both inside and outside. For waterproofing and protection of concrete bridges, underpasses, dams and tunnels to waterproof and protect from deterioration and corrosion. In water treatment plants, wells and storage tanks in contact with aggressive substances. In all concrete structures to stop the attack of chlorides. In agricultural structures (sheds, storages for cereals and hay, piggeries, concrete silos). In biogas tanks and trenches for the defense of the concrete from acid biomass and leachate. In the tanks of drinking water. On concrete subjected to severe climatic conditions. In foundations to stop rising damp. On exposed concrete. In the basements with moisture problems. On floors and slabs. Wherever you want to increase the durability of concrete structures. Declaration of product content The contents per litre of Vetrofluid (including packaging) are as follows both in weight and as a percentage: Content Weight in kg. Water 0,66 Sodium silicate 0,46 Catalyzer <0,01 Polyethylene 0,01 Cardboard 0,03 Total 1,16 3
Declaration of Environmental Performance Methodology The methodology used to quantify the environmental performance of the product is the Life Cycle Assessment - LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), following the rules of the ISO 14040 series. The objective of the analysis is the evaluation of the environmental impact produced by the production, distribution and disposal of 1 litre of Vetrofluid. The functional unit is identified: 1 litre of Vetrofluid with density equal to 1.100 to 1.150 kg / lt. The data used in this study were divided into specific and generic data, and are derived from direct surveys or databases. Data were collected from Ecobeton Italy Srl or found in the databases contained in the Model SimaPro 7.3 (Ecoinvent V2). All data refers to 2011. The data of the Ecoinvent V2 were used in the Upstream module (Phase A1), in particular it is noted that for the catalyst and labels have been used data defined as "other general data." It should be noted that the contribution of "other generic data", catalyst and labels, does not exceed 10% of the total impacts as required by Product Category Rules and PCR Basic Module - "Constructions Products and Construction Services", Version 1.0, 09/01 / 2012. System boundaries The system boundaries are identified in a "cradle-to-gate with options" according to the provisions of the Product Category Rules and PCR Basic Module - "Constructions Products and Construction Services", Version 1.0 dated 09/01/2012. In particular, the up-stream processes and core processes are required, while for the downstream processes were selected operation effectively linked to the product: Form Phases of the Life Cycle Information Form Presence in the Life Cycle Upstream Core Downstream Other environmental information Reference Service Life (RCL) A1) Production materials and raw materials A1-3) Production Phase Yes (required) A2) Transport A3) Production A4) distribution A5) The construction, A4-5) Production Phase Yes (optional) installation, application, B1) emissions from the use B2) Maintenance B3) Repair B) phase of Use No (optional) B4) Replacement B5) Renewal C1) Demolition C2) Transport C) End of Life No (optional) C3) Waste Treatment C4) Disposal D) Re-use, recycling or disposal B) 1-5 B) phase of Use D) potential recyclability No (optional) No (optional) - tied to the use phase of the product 4
The system boundaries include the following processes in the life cycle: in Mount System (up-stream processes) cover operations related to the extraction and production of raw materials and materials (demineralized water, sodium silicate, plastic packaging and cardboard) and production of energy consumed. The Main Phase or Operational (core processes) on the activities of transport of raw materials, mixing of ingredients and packaging products. Valley system (down-stream processes) cover the distribution of products, the application and end of life of packaging. The system boundaries are shown in the figure below: Through the model SIMA PRO 7.3 was applied a cut-off of 1% as required by the Construction PCR products and construction services. From this cut-off the operations that contribute less than 1% of impacts are: Production of the catalyst Using electricity Use water for cleaning However, it was decided to consider the three operations within the boundaries of the life cycle of the product due to their importance and representativeness in the production process. Electricity use was purchased by the company Sorgenia SpA. The energy mix of the company is as follows: 5
