Scope and expected marked area Declared unit (DU): 1m2 glass wool insulation insulation material with a thickness that gives a declared thermal resistance of R = 1 m2 K/W. This is achieved by using a product with a thickness of 35 mm, a λ D of 0,0035 W/mK and a density of 16,5 kg/m3. Expected service life: Set equal to the reference service life of the building, i.e. 60 years. The service life of the product is >> 60 years. Scope: The declaration is cradle to grave. Year of study: Year of data: Production and emission data for Glava AS at Askim in Expected market area: Norway. Product description The insulation is mainly manufactured from recycled glass (75%). The product is used to insulate against cold, heat, fire and sound. They can be used in buildings, industrial installations, road, rail and marine constructions. The glass wool is elastic and can be compressed to 1/5 of the volume in use. 1/6

3 Methodology System boundaries This EPD is cradle to grave, with system boundaries covering information modules A1-C4, see figure 1. Information modules according to NS-EN 15804:2012 Figure 1 Scenarios and Technical information Method: to construction site (A4) and transport to waste processing (C2): Installation (): The calculations on emissions are based on the method CML 2 Baseline The primary energy calculations are done using the method of Cumulative Energy Demand (CED). Background data is gathered from the database Ecoinvent v2.2 hosted by the Ecoinvent Centre. Lorries used for transportation are assumed to be in the EURO 3 class (diesel consumption 0,25 l/km). The transport distance to the building site is assumed to be 400 km. The transport distance to waste processing is assumed to be 25 km. Volume utilisation of the truck is not included in the calculations. Energy usage and loss of material at installation is assumed to be negligible. The insulation product is installed in a building envelope. The conditions during usage are dry. Use (B1-B7) Replacement of the insulation during the service life of the building is not needed. No operational water or energy usage is necessary. End of life (C1, C3, C4): At end-of-life the insulation material is disposed at landfill (non-hazardous waste).
