Presenter Guide SAP Challenger Insights

BUSINESS BACKGROUND The SAP Challenger Insights mobile app was codeveloped with the DFB the German Football Association especially for the European Football Championship. The solution is integrated into the SAP Sports One solution, which is available for all professional football clubs and associations. SAP Sports One, a solution for team performance launched at the end of June 2015, helps professional soccer clubs and national soccer teams simplify their daily tasks and processes. Hosted on SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP Sports One combines the following applications in one holistic solution: Team Manager, Training Planner, Player Fitness, Match Insights, and Scouting Insights. The different applications represent all the roles within a club; this unique combination on one platform is what makes SAP Sports One special. DEMO DESCRIPTION SAP Challenger Insights helps the DFB s match analysts prepare for the upcoming opponent and document the most crucial findings of the analysis. The data provides an overview of team characteristics, such as offensive and defensive behavior, formations, saliences, and more from all teams taking part in the European Football Championship. Each analyst can add and change filter categories to make the analysis most relevant for their own team. The data is collected, analyzed, and provided to the DFB through the Sporthochschule Cologne, Germany, and is enriched with video material of distinctive match scenes. By clicking publish, the match analyst can send the assumed match plan of the opposing team to ipads installed in the analyst team s lockers. Team members can review and check video scenes and the opponents characteristics before entering the field and during halftime. Once the information is sent to the ipads, the team can adapt it manually for example, if the opposing team s setup differs or changes at the last minute. To take advantage of the mobile app s match preparation functionality, follow the steps on the following pages. 2 / 12

Go to SAP Sports One. Select Matches in the team overview. Select the match you want to prepare for from the list of all your team s upcoming matches during the European Football Championship. Click on Match Preparation for Germany versus Italy, for example. 3 / 12

By choosing the opponent, you see the match preparation page with all of the opposing team s characteristics and tactical behavior. The data provides an overview of the strengths and weaknesses and offensive and defensive behavior of the selected opposing team in standard and goal situations. SAP Challenger Insights collects, analyzes, and provides the data to the DFB through the Sporthochschule Cologne, Germany. 4 / 12

The match analyst can add the assumed formation of the possible opponent for this match. This helps the players and trainer team analyze how the opponent could play and with which setup. 5 / 12

The match analyst can then add the opposing players characteristics. By clicking publish, the analyst can send the final player lineup to the ipads installed in the players lockers for them to review before entering the field and during halftime. 6 / 12

The opponent insights functionality is based on the match preparation functionality in SAP Challenger Insights. After creating and publishing the assumed setup of the opponent s team and player characteristics for a certain match, the mobile app sends the information to the ipads installed in the lockers of the DFB team. To take advantage of opponent insights functionality, follow these steps. Go to the home page. Enter the username and password. Select the match to be downloaded. 7 / 12

Download the data. Send the match information to all the ipads that are installed in the DFB team s lockers. Team members can also access the data directly from the ipads. 8 / 12

The information is sent to the team s ipads. The user can now see the assumed current lineup of the opposing team. 9 / 12

By clicking on one of the opposing team s players, you can see specific tactical characteristics of this player including his number, height, and position as well as watch examples of his behavior on the field. The user can also review the whole team s strengths, weaknesses, and special tactics when trying to score a goal. 10 / 12

The user can watch video clips that underline the opposing team s tactical behavior. Going back to the Substitutes view, the user can also see which players are on the substitutes bench and the position each would play. 11 / 12

Once the information is sent to the ipads, users can manually adapt the assumed opposing team s setup for example, if the lineup differs or changes at the last minute. The analyst or player manually adapts the lineup by moving a certain player to a different position. Studio SAP 45053enUS (16/06) 12 / 12
