Payment There are two options for payment: Edmonton Jewish Hockey League 2016/2017 It s a new season, new- ish EXEC but with the same simple idea good clean hockey and a fun way to spend a Sunday night. The executive has been working, even over the summer to ensure that we have enough players and arrange things. It is all looking good. The start of the 2016/2017 Edmonton Jewish Hockey League season is not too far away, October 9th is our first ice time and we go every Sunday (except for dates removed for holidays). Games are played on Sunday nights at Argyll Arena at 7:30 and 9:30 PM with the same rules and three line format. The Edmonton Jewish Hockey League is open to all players aged 16 and older. Below is the payment and registration information. IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE LEAGUE, ON YOUR REGISTRATION FORM PLEASE IDENTIFY HOW GOOD OF A HOCKEY PLAYER YOU ARE (i.e. HOW MANY YEARS YOU HAVE PLAYED AND AT WHAT LEVEL). The first season game is scheduled for Sunday, October 9th 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Argyll Arena. Before this game you will be notified by your team captain as to which team you are on. Registration (including signing the EJHL waiver, and the enclosed Argyll Arena waiver) and payment are due by Wednesday, September 16, 2016 to qualify for the early bird discount. As perhaps is to be expected there has been an increase in our cost of ice rental (although less than prior years ) so we have had to slightly increase the player cost accordingly although we simply aim to break even every season. 1. Early Bird Payment of $560.00 (for skaters) must be made in full by September 16, 2016. (GOALIES Pay $250.00) 2. Payment of $580.00 will be accepted after September 16, 2016 to September 30, 2016 (GOALIES Pay $275.00) If you are registering and would also like to register your son in the league for this year your son will come at a 50% discount, to encourage family participation The teams will then be composed by the EJHL captains & board as fairly as possible before the first season game. We will try to be as fair as possible, as noted below, there may be some rearranging of players if a team is too weak or too strong. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted dated after the early bird deadline. Players will not be put on teams unless they have submitted their registration & waiver forms and paid in full by September 30, 2016. In order for the league to continue to run smoothly, we require that all registration fees be paid by the deadline.
The Edmonton Jewish Hockey League is trying to keep your fees to a minimum. The executive works for free and pays full fees just like everyone else. The first 76 registrations (with both signed waivers) and money received will be guaranteed a spot in the league. The league operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to get your form in as soon as possible. The league will open a waiting list for those who are not the first 76 to register. However, to ensure yourself a spot, register early. If there are more registrants than spots by either deadline, preference will be given to returning players and their immediate family. Please note that a significant number of players from the 2015/2016 season have indicated they intend to return. So to avoid disappointment and ensure a spot we encourage you to register in good time. In the past year we were able to do away with sub fees. If the league fills up, we will be able to do the same. We can t afford to have a league where everyone comes as a sub and nobody pays, so we will only be able to do this is we fill up. If the league fills up we will allow subs for free. Otherwise a fee for subs will have to be re-instituted. Attached to this form is a Release that YOU MUST SIGN. IN ORDER TO PLAY AT ARGYLL ARENA, you must complete this. Note that there are different forms if you are either under or over 18. Please submit the correct one. The Edmonton Jewish Hockey League reserves the right to deny application of any individual based on past on and off-ice conduct, or arrears owing to the League. Team Formats The teams will be selected by members of the EJHL Board, like last year, and will be done so as fairly as possible. Only immediate family will be guaranteed to be on the same team, however requests can be made to play with friends, and we will accommodate requests wherever possible. Team captains will be contacting by phone/e mail all players after the teams are created to tell them what team they are on and when they play their first game. Once again the first game is Oct 9th and you will play at either 7:30 or 9:30pm. The Board of Directors will be stressing the fun and social aspects of the league. As such, we strive for parity among teams throughout the season. Teams may be shifted and players traded throughout the season in order to balance teams and ensure a fun time for all. Rules We will be strictly enforcing the rules of the league. Any and all serious infractions will be dealt with severely. The Edmonton Jewish Hockey League will suspend players if
on and off ice conduct warrants a suspension. Everyone is welcome to play hard and be competitive, but this is a social/fun league. If you are unsure if you can play within these parameters, please do not register in the league. The EJHL board will deal with situations that are deemed to be not within the parameters of what type of league the Edmonton Jewish Hockey League is all about as fast as possible and there will be consequences for your actions. WE DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO SUSPEND ANYONE SO PLEASE TREAT OTHER PLAYERS, THE REFS, AND THE TIMEKEEPER WITH RESPECT. Physical and Verbal abuse will not be tolerated in any way. If you have problems with the league please discuss them with your team captain or executive. We will try to help. The league rulebook will be posted on the website. download a copy.
