About us Our Medevac Service was originally part of our Private Charter service offered by our Sister company ijets Like most private charter brokers we offered a service based around the basic disciplines of standard charter projects. Seeking availability, calculating positioning costs, appropriate airports and type tested crew were all the basic challenges of providing an excellent service in the private charter world. However, as our Medevac service grew, and we started to grow a reputation for being excellent in this field, it seemed only logical that we should separate the two disciplines. It was obvious to us that whilst all of the disciplines mentioned above were important, the extra layer of knowledge and experience required to properly support a service that could be as basic as organising a comfortable flight or as complicated as a multi-aircraft trans continental service, with multiple flight crews and medical teams, required us to invest in ourselves first. The training and professional development of our teams has helped us create one of the UKs leading Consultancy services for any movement of a individual, or group of people, that involves aircraft and medical support. As a Consultancy we do not own the aircraft, nor do we employ the flight crew or airbourne medical teams. This means we can maintain total focus on the Patient. We are not distracted by worrying about paying for an expensive fleet of aircraft, paying for staff when they are not being used and clearly have no conflicts of interest when it comes to selecting the most appropriate method of support. We have one concern, the Patient. We seek the best aircraft, flight crew, medical team and price for our Clients, quickly, efficiently and transparently. We have a global reach and utilise helicopters, small light aircraft, commercial carriers and private air ambulances. Whatever is right for the Patient is right for us. We provide our services to individuals, businesses, NHS Trusts, insurance companies and private clinics. We are proud of what we do, and hope that you will be too. Page 2
OUR SERVICES 1 Air Ambulance and Medevac Our core business 1. AIR AMBULANCE AND MEDEVAC 2. MEDICAL ESCORT 3. CONTINGENCY PLANNING The provision of Air Ambulance and Medevac services is the largest area of activity for the industry and our business is no different. Transporting seriously ill and injured individuals from one location to another is a regular occurrence either from hospital to hospital, or from one country to another. Making sure that the balance is right between Patient care, which cannot be compromised upon, and budget management is a key part of our role. As the fleet of Air Ambulances are constantly working, flying over country and continent, an understanding of where the aircraft are currently located, their flight plans and schedules and available crew hours is critical to budget management. or example, we may have access to a very cost effective Ambulance that is appropriate for the project we are involved in. However, if it is currently stationed in Ankara and the project is a flight between erlin and Stockholm then any savings that could normally be made will be eroded the positioning flight. Alternatively, the cheap option that is local may not have full ICU facilities, or full stretcher to stretcher access meaning client care would be compromised with this choice. It is rarely as simple as the above example, but only by using the services of a Consultant who has a total focus on the industry, and is not tied down to the compromise of using their own fleet and staff can you be certain that the advice you receive is totally unbiased and transparent. OUR SERVICES Medical Escort A sensible option to consider for long journeys 2 3 Contingency Planning Engage us to help you save on insurance costs Sometimes a Private Air Ambulance is not the most appropriate vehicle to use. For very long distance flights we use a Patient Transport Compartment on a scheduled flight with a commercial carrier. We supply a Medical Team to accompany the Patient for the journey and normally a wing to wing transfer to a smaller private ambulance at the carriers destination airport. The use of the Medical Escort facility is perfect for very long distance trips, is rarely a singular flight normally requiring air transport at either end to transport the Patient to and from the commercial carrier. We have recently provided this service on a Patient that had been in a major road traffic accident in Thailand during a family holiday. The PTC was used to bring the Patient and immediate family back to mainland Europe, followed by a transfer to a small Private Air Ambulance for the final leg back to the UK. One family member made the final journey alongside the Patient with the remainder of the family travelling commercial. The blend of both commercial flights and a Private Air Ambulance ensured that the Patient was repatriated to the UK to a hospital that specialised in the treatment of his injury, the family were all returned home safely and the agreed budget was managed appropriately. As a Consultancy we are often asked to support all kinds of businesses with contingency planning. Recent projects include: Providing cost and feasibility analysis for full emergency medical evacuations for a film crew. The crew were filming birds on a remote island in the South Pacific and part of the production company s contractual terms was the provision of full medical cover. The insurance company required full costings and timelines, together with a detailed contingency plan before they would accept the risk. It didn t make it easy that the only access to the Island was by boat. Paamb provided a full plan that covered all eventualities. We covered the cost of bringing in a medical team for injuries and accidents that could be treated on site, the cost of a full evacuation to the nearest airport, and alternative pricing for either a full UK repatriation or travel to nearby major cities where hospitals that were approved by the insurance company were available. The provision of the report was charged on a time cost basis, with a cap agreed with the Client at inception, that was less than the discounted premium negotiated with the presentation of the report, which we were pleased to support. Supporting a tender document for a Road Ambulance business. One of our regularly used Road Ambulance partners were tendering for an NHS Trust contract for organ transport. They needed an air partner if the situation arose. We provided counsel, ideas, example pricing that was all included in the final tender and presentation. Our Partner secured the business and we are both enjoying a very successful partnership. As the work involved was fairly non specific and general, we did the work free of charge. Providing cost analysis for transportation of diving accidents. We were approached by a company who were carrying out a large marine conservation exercise in the South Atlantic Ocean. They were struggling to organise medical insurance for their personnel due to the remoteness of the dive location and local facilities. They needed a plan that would evacuate injured divers to the nearest Hyperbaric chambers, a trained Medical Team on constant standby and full repatriation plans for a dive team that had a multi-national members. Our research led to a contingency plan that offered different solutions depending on accident location, a watch schedule for stand-by medical teams, on call helicopters and aircraft and long distance air ambulance facilities for repatriation and evacuation. Our report and plan allowed the company to secure insurance and the conservation project began in May 2014. Page 5
