Photo: Effy Alexakis Ulrike Wackernagel Germany Master of International Relations with Master of International Business I knew I wanted to study outside of Germany and in an English speaking country. I chose Macquarie University because of their double degree programs. That sold it for me! The Master of International Business pleases my parents and the Master of International Relations sounded really interesting. Even though Macquarie s campus is big, the postgraduate classes are small. The professors learn your name and there is a lot of interaction between professors and students. The campus is also very international. I don t have to worry about being the odd one out because Macquarie is a community of international students. It makes it very easy to meet others and have a sense of belonging. Graduate profile Gabriel Torres Brown, Master of International Relations Chief of Communications, Pfizer Colombia La Sabana University, my home university in Colombia, has a Dual Degree Program with Macquarie and I always wanted to study International Relations. To do so in an international country like Australia made the offer look as if it were meant to be - and it was. I am certain that my Macquarie degree opened every professional door and opportunity that I ve had so far. In a country such as mine the international aspect is very valuable. Who you will learn from Professor Martina Möllering Head, Department of International Studies Professor Möllering has received a national citation for her innovative approaches to technologyenhanced language learning. Her research areas include corpus-based approaches to language teaching and computer-mediated communication in second language acquisition. Our department likes to think of language as a window into another culture - not just a skill. 7
