The students are very excited for this tradition to get underway. If you are able to join us, Monday will be our annual Spelling Bee. Mrs. Cheak has been organizing this great opportunity for the students. The Spelling Bee will be at 1:40 in the gym. We would love to have you there. Fifth and Eighth grade took the ACRE test this week. This test monitors how much the students have learned about our Catholic faith. We would like to thank you for supporting the Catholic education of your children. Information for Catholic Schools Week will be attached in this newsletter. We couldn t do it without you! Masses for the week will be on Monday, January 30 and Friday, February 3 instead of Tuesday and Thursday. We will be celebrating our community on Monday at Mass. Please feel free to come and worship with us. We will be praying for our church community that day. We are busy preparing for our Open House, Jan. 29. We will have our Student Council Students and Ambassadors help this day. Also, think about joining our school community at our opening (Jan. 30) and closing (Feb. 3) Liturgies during Catholic Schools Week. During the week we will celebrate many who make up our Catholic school and our Catholic Identity.. We have a lot to be proud of and to celebrate It will be a fun week - prayer, entertainment, buddies, games, food, etc. Thank you for all of our support of our school. You are the best public relations for our School, so ask someone you know who has a Kindergarten age child or have children in any grade level and bring them to the open house. Although all parents are welcome to visit, we are hoping to be able to spend time and show off our school to new interested parents. 2017 St Simon Home & School Trivia... Mardi Gras Style! Greeting St Simon Families! Home and School is very excited about our Mardi Gras themed Trivia Night coming up on Feb 18th! We have updated our flyer with clearer information, babysitting info, and donation directions to ensure your children gets their dress down day! Please take a moment to review it. We are also looking for a few volunteers for the night, mostly selling raffle tickets, Judges, and clean-up help. Bulldog Bonanza Monthly Raffle 2017 This raffle is held by the Holy Name Society and is a major fundraiser for the athletic program. Last week, each student received an envelope with four tickets and detailed information. Please return all money and sold ticket stubs to the school office in an envelope mark Bulldog Raffle. Bulldog Raffle sale ends Friday, February 3, 2017. 8th Grade News The decision has been made, the 8th grade, Class of 2017, will be performing Shrek on Friday, May 5 & Saturday, May 6. More information will be coming as the play gets closer. IMPORTANT: Please include the student s name and grade on the envelope in order for your child to receive credit for selling the tickets. See the Attached flyer for more details. St. Simon s New Golf Program!! St. Simon s is excited to announce the addition of Golf as our newest sport! Golf will be a spring sport with practice dates and match dates running from April through May (possibly into June), and will be available for students in 2nd 8th grade. This will be a great opportunity for kids at any level to learn the basics of golf, and some of the life lessons that go along with this great game. Each kid will get the opportunity to practice and get lessons from a local golf pro, followed by weekend golf matches with kids from other schools. Lessons, range balls, golf shirt and hat are all included in the registration fee. Kids will be required to bring clubs, but this isn't the PGA tour, it isn't necessary to have new ones.
