Quest vworkspace System Requirements vworkspace includes the infrastructure components: Connection Broker Role Management Console Role Web Access Role Terminal Server/RD Session Host Role User Profile Management Storage Role Secure Gateway Role Universal Print Server Role Remote Site Relay Role Password Reset Role Proxy-IT Role Reporting and Logging Role Report Viewer Broker Helper Service Hyper-V Catalyst Components Extensions for the RD Connection Broker PNTools (installed in Guest VM) vworkspace Connector for Windows The following tables outline the minimum system requirements for installing and running each of the vworkspace components.

vworkspace System Requirements Connection Broker Role 2 Ghz or higher Intel Pentium 4 compatible CPU 2 GB or more recommended 80 MB or more of free disk space The Connection Broker Role can run on any of these operating systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Service Pack 2(x86 and x64 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, Service Pack 1 These requirements also apply to RD Session Host/Terminal Server. The Connection Broker Role should only run on a member server and either a physical machine or a virtual host that is not hosting virtual desktops. SQL Server Microsoft.NET Framework The vworkspace management database can be hosted by: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 (x86 and x64) and 2008 R2 Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition 2005 and 2008 (x86 and x64) and 2008 R2 The Connection Broker Role requires Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0. This is automatically installed when this role is selected for install. Java If using vworkspace with VMware, then the Java 2 Standard Edition Runtime Environment 5.0 (update 7,8,9,10, or 11) is required. This is automatically installed when this role is selected for install. 2

Virtualization s & Management Storage Management vworkspace can use one or any of the following Virtualization s: Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Enterprise, or Datacenter. The Hyper-V role is required. Parallels Virtuozzo Containers (PVC) 4.5 and 4.6 running Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 containers, and PVC 4.0 running Windows Server 2003/2003 R2 containers, x86 and x64. Parallels PIM 4.0 and PVA 4.5 and 4.6 Microsoft SCVMM 2008 R2 (requires Broker Helper Service) with PowerShell 2.0 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Connection Broker VMware VirtualCenter versions 2 and 2.5, vcenter 4.0 update 1-3, 4.1 update 1-2 and 5.0 vworkspace can use the following storage management technologies: Microsoft Differencing Disks with Hyper-V R2 and SCVMM 2008 R2 NetApp FlexClone with Data Ontap 7.3.6 or Data Ontap 8.0 7-mode and 8.1 7-mode VMware Linked Clones (with VirtualCenter Server 2.5 and vcenter 4.0 update 1-3, 4.1 update 1-2 and 5.0) 3

Application Virtualization The following versions of Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) can be used: App-V version 4.2, 4.5 and 4.6 Note: Microsoft App-V servers version 4.6 must be trusted for delegation in Active Directory. 4

Web Access Role 1 Ghz or higher Intel Pentium compatible CPU 2 GB or more recommended 100 MB or more of free disk space vworkspace Web Access can be run on a web server with any of these operating systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, Service Pack 1 Web Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0. Firefox version 7, 8 and 9 Google Chrome 14, 15 and 16 for Windows 7, Vista, and XP Note: Internet Explorer is recommended, as some features may be unsupported in Firefox and Google Chrome. Microsoft.NET Framework Two-factor Authentication Support Microsoft Office SharePoint Integration Support Web Access requires Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0. This is automatically installed when this role is selected for install. Web Access supports RADIUS authentication through Quest Defender or any other RADIUS compliant two-factor authentication solution. Web Access supports integration with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010. Note: Page Viewer Web Part needs to be enabled. 5

vworkspace System Requirements Third Party Remote Access Support Internet Services Web Access supports the following third party remote access solutions: Microsoft ForeFront UAG 2010 SP1 F5 Firepass SSL VPN 7.0.0 with hotfix HF-70-4.1-1 Juniper Secure Access SSL VPN 7.0R1-7.0R5.1 Cisco ASA 8.2(1) On the web server, Web Access requires Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 or later. ASP.NET Enable network COM+ access Internet Information Services (Common Files, Internet Information Services Manager, World Wide Web Service) Note: If you are using Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 1, the IIS Web Server Role must be enabled. This role is automatically enabled by the vworkspace installer. If you are installing on Microsoft Windows Server 2008/IIS7 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2/IIS 7.5, the following role services for IIS must be enabled. These roles are automatically enabled by the vworkspace installer. Reporting and Logging Role The reporting database is hosted by the same SQL Server instance as the management database. The disk space requirements below refer to the extra space needed on the database server. System Memory (RAM) 2 Ghz or higher Intel Pentium 4 compatible CPU 2 GB or more recommended 5 GB or more minimum free disk space The actual space requirements will depend on your vworkspace configuration and the amount of historical data retained. By default, the reporting database will automatically purge all data older than 14 days. (This purge takes place every 6 hours). SQL Server The Reporting and Logging Role can be hosted by: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (x86 edition) Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 and 2008 15

Broker Helper Service 1 Ghz or higher Intel Pentium compatible CPU 2 GB or more recommended 10 MB or more of free disk space The Broker Helper Service can run on a server with any of these operating systems in full installation: Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Service Pack 2 (x64 edition) Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, Service Pack 1 The Broker Helper Service needs to be installed on the same machine that is hosting the SCVMM server and console. Microsoft.NET Framework Broker Helper requires Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 or later. Windows PowerShell Microsoft Windows PowerShell v2.0 17

vworkspace System Requirements Hyper-V Catalyst Components 2.0 Ghz or higher x64 Intel VT or AMDV enabled processor 2 GB or more recommended Note: The HyperCache component of Hyper-V Catalyst utilizes system RAM to cache parent VHDs and therefore its memory requirements will vary depending on the cache size and number of parent VHDs. 2 MB or more of free disk space The Hyper-V Catalyst components are installed on a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 with the Hyper-V role enabled. 18

EOP Multimedia Enhancements Flash Redirection If using Flash Redirection, you must have one of the following versions of Adobe Flash Player installed on the Guest VM: Adobe Flash Player 9 Adobe Flash Player 10 Adobe Flash Player 11 Flash Redirection works with versions 7, 8 and 9 of Internet Explorer. Note: The version (major versions) installed in the Guest VM must match the version that is installed on the Client Access Device. If the versions do not match, the flash content plays without Flash Redirection, through RDP. Media Player Redirection Microsoft Windows Media Player 10, 11 and 12 are supported. Graphics Acceleration The Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection needs to be at version 6.0 or later. WAN Acceleration (EOP Xtream) Operating Systems This patent-pending technology can run on a Guest VM/RD Session Host/Terminal Server with any of these operating systems: Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 3 (x86 edition) Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Service Pack 2 (x64 edition) Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 (x64 edition) Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, Service Pack 1 Microsoft Windows 7, Service Pack 1 (x86 and x64 Microsoft Windows Vista, Service Pack 1 (x86 and x64 Note: Microsoft Windows XP Embedded and Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard are customized and developed by thin client vendors.
