1 Toad Intelligence Central Version 2.5 New in This Release Wednesday, 4 March 2015 New features in this release of Toad Intelligence Central: Object level authentication - Where authentication is required to access data sourced directly from the data source, that authentication can now be set for each table, view and snapshot. Group management and sharing with groups - Import groups from Active Directory. Create local groups in Toad Intelligence Central. Manage access rights to objects via users and groups. Synchronize Active Directory domains - Users and groups imported from Active Directory can be kept synchronized with Intelligence Central. Rename objects - Rename datasets, views, snapshots, and published artifacts. Cassandra - Toad Intelligence Central now uses the CQL (Cassandra Query Language) protocol by default to connect to a Cassandra data source. The legacy Thrift API is still supported. Object Level Authentication Where authentication is required to access data sourced directly from the data source, that authentication can now be set for the table, view and snapshot. There is a new Authentication tab on the dialogs to create tables, views and snapshots and edit the object properties. For tables and views the Authentication tab can be left as is unless authentication specific to the table or view is required. When mapping a table the same authentication used to access the data source is assumed. When executing a view the same authentication used to access the associated table(s) or view(s) is assumed. The first time you access a table or view that you did not create yourself an Authentication dialog may open. Confirm or specify the authentication you will use to source data for this table or view. Authentication is not required to view snapshot data. Authentication is required to refresh snapshot data. When creating a snapshot you are required to enter password authentication to the data source. That authentication will be used to refresh the snapshot whenever the snapshot is refreshed. Any Intelligence Central user with Manage rights to the snapshot can refresh the snapshot. 1

2 Group management and sharing with groups Intelligence Central users can create local groups. Groups can be imported from Active Directory by the Toad Intelligence Central Administrator. In the Admin Console tree any Intelligence Central user can expand Users and Groups Groups to list all the groups on the Toad Intelligence Central server. The group icon is informative. This group has been imported from Active Directory. When the Active Directory domain is synchronized with Intelligence Central then management of this group in Active Directory synchronizes to Intelligence Central. This group is local to Toad Intelligence Central. To create, delete or manage the local group, right click Groups in the Admin Console tree. Share and Manage access rights can be granted to groups in an object's Properties dialog. A user is given the highest level of rights applied to them either individually or to the group(s) they are a member of. Synchronize Active Directory domains Synchronize users and groups imported from Active Directory with Intelligence Central. 1. Connect to Toad Intelligence Central as the Administrator. 2. Right click root@server and select Show Properties to open the Intelligence Central Server properties dialog. 3. Ensure the Active Directory tab is to the front. This tab is visible only to the Administrator of the Toad Intelligence Central server. 2

3 The display shows all Active Directory domains synchronized with the Intelligence Central server. Add or remove domains, edit the user details used to connect to the Active Directory domain, note the last synchronized time or click Synch Now to synchronize now. Rename objects Rename datasets, views, snapshots, and published artifacts. As a Toad Intelligence Central user you must have Manage rights to the object to rename it. 1. Right click on the object in the Admin Console and select Rename. 2. The object is highlighted for you to rename. Alternatively, the object can be renamed from the object properties dialog. 3

4 Cassandra Toad Intelligence Central now uses the CQL (Cassandra Query Language) protocol by default to connect to a Cassandra data source. The legacy Thrift API is still supported. Map the Cassandra data source. 1. Right click on Data Sources to open the Map Data Source dialog. 2. Select Cassandra as the Data source type. 3. Use legacy Thrift API is a new option.
