5 What s New in Quest One Identity Manager Data Governance Edition As a result of ongoing research and development, and in response to customer feedback, the following enhancements have been made since the release of Quest One Identity Manager Data Governance Edition Support for Generic Managed Hosts You can remotely scan managed hosts (other than those on the supported list) by adding a generic managed host. This type of managed host supports scheduled scans only and does not support real-time file system updates and resource activity tracking. Note: These hosts must be accessible through Windows shares. To determine if a host can be scanned for security information, you can use the Filesystem Statistics Utility (Quest.Titan.Server.FileSystemStatistics.exe) that is included with a Data Governance Edition installation. It scans a filesystem, enumerates its contents, and provides statistics on the files and folders contained on the specified data roots. Support for Distributed File System (DFS) Root Managed Hosts Adding a DFS root enables you to view and manage the access on resources that are physically distributed throughout your network. Once added, the Data Governance server will periodically synchronize the DFS structure into the Identity Manager database, making the DFS path available within the resource browser. You will be able to see where all the data has been replicated throughout your network. As well, you will be able to see this information within the resource access, resource activity, and account activity reports. Ability to Run Reports in the Manager or Identity Manager You can easily view resource access and resource activity reports directly in the Manager from the resource browser, the governed data view, or the manage access view. 3

6 Quest One Identity Manager Data Governance Edition To run a resource access report 1. Right-click the required resource, and select Resource access report. 2. You can include varying levels of detail in the report by selecting the display options. You can include child resources whose access differs from the selected resource by selecting the Child resources option. You can also display all group members who have access to the resource. 3. Click Finish to generate the report. To run a resource activity report 1. Right-click the required resource, and select Resource activity report. 2. Specify the period of time that you are interested in, and click Next. You can choose to report on previous hours/days/weeks/months/quarters/years, a specific time period, or all dates and times. Note: All dates and times are displayed in UTC, not necessarily your local time. 3. If desired, you can select to exclude specific accounts from the report. Select the required accounts, and click Next. 4. Select the activities that you want to exclude from the report, and click Finish to generate the report. You can easily view account access and account activity reports directly from the Manager by selecting an account in the security editor or an account in the group membership pane of the Manage Access View. To run an account access report 1. Right-click the required account, and select Account access report. 2. Select the managed hosts that contain the resources whose access you are interested in, and click Next. 3. If desired, you can exclude specific accounts from the report. Select the required accounts, and click Next. 4. You can specify the level of report detail by selecting to display group members. If required, select the Expand Groups option, and click Next. 5. Select the resource types whose access you are interested in and click Finish to generate the report. To run an account activity report 1. Right-click the required account, and select Account activity report. 2. Specify the period of time that you are interested in, and click Next. You can choose to report on previous hours/days/weeks/months/quarters/years, a specific time period, or all dates and times. Select the activities that you want to exclude from the report, and click Finish to generate the report. Support for SharePoint 2013 Resource browsing and security index scans are now supported for SharePoint
