Course Title : Post Graduate Diploma in Urdu Journalism Ordinance : Eligibility: A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Course leading to the post-graduate Diploma in Urdu Journalism must have passed the examination for the degree of Bachelor of Arts of this University or a degree of another University recognized as equivalent thereto. Regulations: R- Fee Structure: The fee structure of the course is as follows: 1. Tuition Fees ------------Rs. 5,000/- 2. Registration Fees ---- Rs. 400/- 3. Library fees etc. ------ Rs. 715/- 4. Examination Fee as per University norms R- Duration: The course for the post-graduate Diploma shall Extend over a period of one academic year and the University examination will be held at the end of the academic year (The candidate will not be admitted to the examination if he/she fails to keep 75% Attendance) R- Intake Capacity: The Intake capacity of the students is 20. R- Standard of passing : In order to pass the examination for the certificate in Urdu a candidate must obtain 40 percent of the full marks in written and oral examinations separately and 50 percent in the aggregate. (Honorarium for per lecture to resource person -- Rs. 300/-)

Coral Draw, Photoshop, Internet, Photography for Print & Electronic Media. Practical Work 1) Use of Electronic Media in Urdu Journalism. 2) Use of Camera & Photography.

Paper III Translation, Terminology, Essay and Printing. 1 Translation: a) Importance and necessity of translation writing. b) Principles and views of translation writing specially translation problems of journalistic writing. c) General problems of Urdu translation from English and its implications. d) Translation in Urdu from English from newspapers and news magazines. e) General problems of translation from Hindi into Urdu and its implications. f) Translation from Hindi into Urdu from newspapers and its implications. 2 Terminology: a) Definition, necessity and importance: b) Principles of terminology making: i) Framing principles of simple terminology. ii) Framing principles of compound terminology. c) Newspaper terminology: i) General terminology. ii) Technical terminology. iii) Special terminology of Urdu journalism. 3 Essay writing: a) Art of essay writing: i) Principles ii) Style b) Importance of essay writing and its necessity. c) Topics of essay writing as: i) Cultural and Historical. ii) Political and Social. iii) Educational and Literary. iv) Sports and Recreations. v) Scientific and Reformatory. vi) Scholastic and Religious. vii) Important festivals and important personalities etc. 4 Printing: a) History and methodology. b) Modern technique of printing: i) Offset printing ii) Screen printing iii) Flexo printing iv) Digital printing c) Press Law * Practical Work:a) Practice of translations and Essay writing. b) Visit of Printing press.

Project and Viva Voce Project: Viva Voce: a) Comparative study of the Mumbai newspapers: i) Comparative analysis of the present circumstances on the material of the newspaper ( period with month & year) ii) Comparative analysis of different columns of Urdu journals in ( Editorial, Political column, Humorous column, Sports Ladies, Health care, Children s page and Career guidance) With special reference to month and year) b) Comparative analysis of Urdu monthly journals Shair, Urdu Dunya, Aiwan-e-Urdu and Aaj Kal etc. c) Project report will be like a thesis/desertation which shall contain the following chapte i) Topic and its introduction: ii) The aims and objects of selecting the topic iii) Material iv) Comparative analysis and discussion v) Conclusion and final sum up vi) Bibliography Any other project assigned by the Department from time to time. Candidates who obtain 50 Percent or more marks in the aggregate will be declared to have passed the examination in the Second Class; those who obtain 60 percent or more marks in the aggregate will be declared to have passed the examination in the First Class; and those who obtain 70 percent or more marks in the aggregate will be declared to have passed with Distinction. A Candidate who has passed in any of the subjects of the examination in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 2176 may, at his option, be exempted from appearing in that subject on a subsequent occasion and will be declared to have passed the examination in pass class he/she the passes in the remaining subjects of the examination in accordance with the provisions of the said Regulation. Candidates passing the examination in this manner in compartment will not be eligible for any prize or scholarship to be awarded at the examination. If a candidate whose internal assessment marks has been submitted to the University is unable to appear for the final examination, his internal assessment marks will be carried over. A candidate passing the examination in this manner will not be eligible for award of class, prizes, awards, etc. Scholarship to be awarded at the examination.
