Desktop Client Installation To ensure that the ManagerPlus Desktop Client is installed correctly, it is important to follow the instructions in the order listed. As with other Windows installations, the process should complete within a few minutes. ManagerPlus recommends using the default destination folders for installation. Important Notes: the ManagerPlus Desktop Server Installation must be completed before initiating the Client Installation. Please see the ManagerPlus Desktop Server Installation instructions for assistance. The following instructions do not include screenshots for every step of the installation process. Please be sure to read each step carefully to avoid missing important information Prerequisites: + ManagerPlus Server + ManagerPlus support portal login credentials (instructions can be found in the activation email that was sent to the primary account contact upon purchase of ManagerPlus) 1 2 3 Go to http://www.managerplus.com/support/ and log in. On the ManagerPlus Support home page, click on Downloads/Upgrades, then click on ManagerPlus Desktop Client to begin the download. Run MPClient.exe once it has completed downloading. Read through the terms of the ManagerPlus Software License Agreement and click Accept (3a) to proceed. 3a
4 Next, enter the password 5a756w73KD and click Ok (4a). Important note: The password is case-sensitive. Be sure to type in the password manually, as copying and pasting it may cause an error. 4a 5 On the ManagerPlus Client - InstallShield Wizard window, click Next (5a). 5a
6 Now you will see the Software License Agreement. Carefully read through this entire document you can click Print (6a) if you d like a paper copy for your records. Once you have read through this document, click I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next (6b). 6a 6b 7 When the Destination Directory window appears, click Next (7a) to install to the default directory: C:\Program Files\ManagerPlus\ Note that ManagerPlus can be installed anywhere on a physical drive, this is just the default destination. 7a
8 For Setup Type, select Complete (8a) and click Next (8b). 8a 8b 9 Next, select who will have access to the program once it s installed by choosing from the two options listed (9a). ManagerPlus recommends selecting Anyone who uses this computer (all users). Once you ve made a selection, you will be taken to the next step automatically. At this point a security window may appear asking you to confirm that you want the program to make changes to the hard drive, click Yes to proceed (not pictured). 9a
10 Once installation is complete you have the option to launch ManagerPlus. Check the box next to Launch ManagerPlus Client (10a) and then click Finish (10b). 10a 10b Important Note: If ManagerPlus Server is installed on the same computer you are currently installing ManagerPlus Client on, you can skip to step 14. The following steps are only necessary when installing ManagerPlus Client on a computer that does not have ManagerPlus Server installed on it. 11 ManagerPlus client will now launch. Select the SQL Server instance you created for ManagerPlus (11a), and click Next (11b). 11a 11b
12 Next, enter your SQL database credentials (if ManagerPlus instructions for SQL installation were used to set up your database, the default username will be sa and the recommended password was ManagerPlus1). Click Next (12a) to continue. 12a 13 Finally, select your ManagerPlus database and attachment database (we recommend selecting Auto-select attachment database ), and click Finish (13a). 13a 14 The ManagerPlus Client Configuration Wizard will now launch. Click Next (14a) on the first step to begin. 14a
15 Select your country from the pull-down menu and click Next (15a) to proceed. 15a 16 Next, enter your company s information and click Next (16a). Important note: in ManagerPlus Enterprise only, the company name listed here will be automatically set as the name of your primary entity within ManagerPlus. This can be changed at a later time. 16a
17 Next, choose an industry for your default settings. The industry you select here will establish service types, asset types, etc. All of these settings can be modified in the program later but we do recommend selecting one of the industries listed here. Click Next (17a) to continue. 17a 18 On the Applications Settings step, select your fiscal start month, determine when you d like schedules to reset*, and select the inventory method** you use. These settings can be changed at any time by accessing the options menu in the Work Orders module. Click Next (18a) once you have configured these setting to proceed to the next step. *Learn more about the Reset my schedules setting here. **Learn more about inventory methods here. 18a
19 The configuration process is now complete, click Finish (19a) to exit the Configuration Wizard. 19a Important Note: At this point, the core installation of ManagerPlus Desktop Client is complete. The following steps will address the initial login and program activation, which can be handled at a later time by a program administrator. 20 Launch the ManagerPlus client. On the Login screen, enter admin as the User ID and leave the password blank. Click Login (20a). 20a
21 Enter a new password and save it for your records. Click Ok (21a) when you are done. 21a 22 Next, you will be asked to choose an activation method. An email with your serial number will be automatically sent to the primary contact listed for your company. Be sure to keep this number ready at hand as you proceed. Select the Activate over the internet option (22a) and proceed to the next step by clicking Next (22b). If for some reason you are unable to locate the activation email, contact ManagerPlus Technical Support. 22a 22b
23 Enter the serial number from the activation email in the blank fields and click Next (23a). 23a 24 Your activation is now complete, click Finish (24a) to return to ManagerPlus. 24a ManagerPlus Client installation is now complete.
