1. What is cloud? Cloud computing is convenient, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources such as servers, networks, storage, applications and services that can be rapidly provisioned with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. 2. What is the cloud solution being implemented in KSDC-2? Sify CloudInfinit solution is implemented in KSDC-2. 3. Is it based on any open source solution? NO, the solution is developed in house by Sify Technologies limited. 4. What is the current infrastructure available in the cloud at KSDC-2? Servers hosted with Hyper-V and RHEV hypervisors connected to a storage and network pool are used for setting up the cloud solution. 5. Is any expansion planned in the near future? The expansion plan is resource utilization dependent. 6. Can the departments add new hardware to the existing cloud? The cloud solution is scalable. However, departments are provided VM s from the common resource pool so additional hardware will become part of the common resource pool. 7. Can the departments add the existing hardware to the existing cloud? To add any existing hardware to the cloud the hardware should be compatible and additional licenses may be required.

8. Is there any specification wise restrictions in the hardware which can be added to the cloud? OEM. The specifications need to meet the LIST of hardware recommended by 9. Can the existing applications hosted in KSDC-2 be moved to cloud? The cloud provides a virtual infrastructure and the rest remains the same so they can be hosted on cloud. 10. Is any changes in the applications to be made for moving to cloud? In general the environment change is from physical to virtual and rest remains the same, so changes are case to case specific. 11. What is the backup procedure for the applications hosted in the cloud? The existing backup policies/procedure will apply for the backup. 12. Is there any separate storage for the cloud? Storage is provided from the existing storage available in SDC, a separate LUN is allocated for the Cloud. 13. What happens if my VM crashes? End user has the facility to take snapshots/clone of the VM from the Lifecycle Management so that appropriate decision can be made. 14. What happens if any hardware in the cloud fails? Host servers are configured in failover mode, in any such event the load is shifted to the other server.

15. What is the restoration process in case of any VM / Hardware failures? VM can be restored using the snapshot/clone/sdc backup/any restore policy. Server hardware is in clustered mode, faulty hardware will be moved out for maintenance and re-added to the cluster once issue is fixed. 16. Is any downtime required for restoration? The downtime is dependent on the restoration processes chosen. 17. Is load balancing possible? Yes. 18. What is the security of the application/data in the cloud? Cloud environment is placed under the existing SDC firewall so the current security polices applies to the cloud environment. 19. Is any specific encryption done by the cloud infinity? The communication requests are encrypted. The data encryption in VM is user/application dependent. 20. Is VM scaling possible? Yes 21. Is any downtime required for VM upgrading / downgrading? This is OEM specific and the OS should support this feature. 22. Can we delete a created VM? Yes, it can be done from the user Lifecycle Management.

23. What is decommissioning of VM? Decommissioning means complete removal of the VM from the cloud environment. 24. Can we schedule a VM? Yes, scheduling feature is available to the user. 25. Can we retrieve the data after decommissioning of the VM? Decommissioning is removing the VM permanently, so necessary backups and caution should be exercised before performing this action. 26. What are the hypervisors supported? The current solution is deployed on Hyper-V & RHEV hypervisors( the solution has support to major known hypervisors Like VMware, Xen, Open stack etc) 27. Can we integrate this any existing cloud to KSDC-2 cloud? Yes, the existing cloud should support the necessary API s required for KSDC-2 cloud for integration. 28. Is any API support provided to be used by application developers? API support is available, depends on case to case specific requirement. 29. Is any specific licensing required to be provided by the departments? The applications specific licenses (ex Oracle DB, MSSQL DB) to be provided by departments.

30. Can machine critical applications be hosted in the cloud? Yes, there is no difference in OS environment; this can be decided on a case to case basis. 31. How are the resources shared in the cloud? The resources are added to a common resource pool and are allocated virtually by the cloud solution. 32. Will the application hosted on cloud face any network bandwidth issues due to sharing? The network bandwidth extended to cloud is allocated for the current SDC network infrastructure. Any issue occurring in the network infrastructure will affect the cloud network. 33. Is the cloud infrastructure DR enabled? DR for Cloud is yet to be decided. 34. What is spring security? Spring Security is a Java/Java EE framework that provides authentication, authorization and other security features for enterprise applications. 35. What is the support proposed after termination of Sify s cloud contract? It is based on the exit policy of the solution. 36. Will I have to do modifications in the application if it is to be hosted on any other cloud solution? The changes are case to case specific.
