STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES Disabled students are offered all possible means they may need to go through difficulties they might encounter during their studies in Teramo, such as they are given the possibility to learn exam programmes by means of videotapes for students with sight problems or by means of computer for students with mobility disabilities. These students are given a personal assistant as well as academic support. ACADEMIC CALENDAR The basic unit of the Italian System of Higher Education is the Academic Year, from October 1 to September 30. The first semester starts 1 October and ends 31 December. The second semester starts 1 March and ends 31 May. This schedules don t regard examinations. BEFORE LEAVING YOUR OWN COUNTRY If you are a European Union citizen, only your identity card or your passport and two passport size photographs are required. If you are a citizen of a non-eu Country, you must have the visa for study purposes issued by the Italian Embassy or the Consulate Office in the country you live in. N.B.: A tourist visa does not entitle you to study in Italy. Admission requirements : - Statement from home University certifying the arrival in Teramo as an Erasmus student. - Application forms and Learning agreements for the Erasmus Student Programme. They are available on the webpage: http://unite.llpmanager.it/studenti or http://www.unite.it/unite/engine/raservepg.php/p/25311ute0308 Please note our application deadlines for exchange students: Winter semester 15 th September Summer semester 30 th November Make sure you have all information about: - Enrolment, examinations, courses, schedules and Italian language courses, practical aspects concerning life in Teramo. HEALTH INSURANCE FORM Every student is requested to have appropriate health and accident insurance. If you are a citizen of an EU Member State are requested to possess the European Health Insurance Card or the E106 form issued by the relevant authorities in the student s home country. (Directive 2004/38/CE concerning the right of EU citizens and their families to travel and stay freely within the territory of member states. As of April 11, 2007, Eu students who need to relocate in Italy have to provide at the town council of their place of residence their European Health Insurance Card or the E106 form issued by the relevant authorities in the student s home country), If you are not a citizen of an EU Member State, please be sure whether there may be an agreement between your country s National Health Service and Italy. Where such an agreement exists, please obtain from your own country s competent Health Authorities the form that will guarantee you free health coverage in Italy. Where such an agreement doesn t exist, before leaving your own country you must take out private health insurance for the entire period of your Erasmus stay at the University of Teramo. 6

The Language Centre of Athenaeum prepares and assists the students in the programs of LLP/Erasmus programme exchange; it organizes free courses of Italian Language for foreign students.
