Gigabit SOHO NAS Quick Installation Guide Read this document to get instructions from installing the hardware to get connected with the device quickly.
Unpacking Information Thank you for purchasing this product. Before getting started, please verify that your package contains the following items: 1. Gigabit SOHO NAS (Hard Disk not included) 2. Power adapter 3. Power cord 4. Quick installation guide 5. Utility/ Manual CD 6. HD Fastening screws 1
Hardware installation 1. Lie the device down with the correct side up 2. Unscrew the screws on the top and bottom side of the device. 3. Remove the top case evenly. 2
4. Connect the IDE cable and the power connector to your Hard Disk. Please note that the jumper on your HD should be configured as Master mode. 5. Secure your hard disk with the screws in the package. 6. Place the cover back on to the device and fasten the screws. 3
7. Connect the device to your LAN with the RJ-45 cable. 8. Attach the power cord to the power adapter. Connect the connector end to the device and the plug end to an outlet. 9. Press the power button on the front panel. 4
Connecting to the Device For users to launch the device easily, we provide the convenient PNMD software, which detects this device automatically in your LAN. Please refer to the following procedures to proceed. Note: 1. To function the wizard successfully, please make sure that your computer is configured with static IP address or connected to a router with DHCP server. 2. To get information configuring your IP, please refer to the User s Manual in the included CD. 5
Installing the PNMD This PNMD program helps users to get accessed to those NAS in your LAN. Please follow the instructions to install the software. 1. Insert the CD-Rom that came with this product to your CD-Rom drive. The main menu pops up automatically. Click the Install PNMD button to start installation. Note: If the auto-run program is not activated, click My Computer your CD-Rom Drive then click the InstallMenu icon to start the main menu. 6
2. Click Next on the welcome window. 3. Fill your User Name and Company name in their respective blanks. Select if you want this software to be used by anyone who uses this computer or yourself only. Click Next to proceed. 7
4. Choose the destination folder for this software and click Next to start installation. You may click Browse to change the location. 5. Click Finish to complete the software installation. 6. After successful installation, the shortcut shows on your windows desktop. 8
7. Double click the shortcut on your desktop. The PNMD begins scanning NAS in your LAN. After scanning, the menu shows the NAS in your LAN. You may click the button to search for NAS in your LAN again. 8. The window shows the connection status of the NAS in your LAN. You may click on each NAS to get detailed information of each NAS. Select the NAS that you are going to connect to and click the button. 9
9. Select Use the IP Address as below. Fill in IP address for this device. Enter the username and password, and then click OK. Note: The default username/ password are admin/ admin. If you have accessed the device and enabled the DHCP function for the device, please select auto assign IP address. 10
10. After successful IP address setting, the PNMD rescans NAS in your LAN automatically. Please select this device. You may: Click the button to access to folders in the NAS or Click the button. Fill in the username and password and click OK to open the GUI interface. 11
To Get Accessed to Folders Double click the shortcut on your desktop to start the PNMD. The PNMD window pops up. Select your NAS and click the button. The device provides three default accounts for users. The account names are also their default password respectively: All: The account is allowed to Read/Write all the folders in the device as default. Power & Guest: The account is allowed to read all folders in the device. Note: 1. As default, the Share folder is created automatically and it can be read/write by all users. 2. Users that would like to use another set of username/ password after getting accessed to any folder please log off your operation system and log on again. 12
To Manage This Device 1. Double click the shortcut on your desktop to start the PNMD. 2. The PNMD window pops up. Select your NAS and click the button. 3. Enter a username and password on the authentication window. Click OK to get accessed to manage the device. 13
Note: The default username and password is admin/ admin 4. The Graphic User Interface pops up. To get instructions managing the device, please refer to user s manual in the included CD. Note: To read the user s manual, please insert the CD. Click the My Computer icon on your desktop. Right click your CD-Rom drive and select Open.
