St John of God Pinelodge Clinic St John of God Pinelodge Clinic is a 54 bed private hospital offering the highest and most comprehensive standard of treatment and care to inpatients and outpatients. The hospital has been operating since 1981, with a major expansion in 2002 which added 30 more single rooms, new lounge areas and group areas, and outdoor courtyards and recreation areas. The hospital has two inpatient units - one for acute psychiatry and one for drug and alcohol services - and a day program for outpatients. Each patient is involved in individual and group treatment programs developed and implemented by a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals. Therapy is combined with nursing and medical programs to promote wellness and a full recovery. The multi-disciplinary approach assists patients, while in a safe and caring environment, to develop the necessary skills to manage the issues in their lives more effectively. An integral part of St John of God Pinelodge Clinic is the adjacent Consulting Suites where psychiatrists consult in private practice. This enables general practitioners or individual patients to contact an accredited psychiatrist for patient assessment and, if necessary, admission to the inpatient or day program. The hospital is located at 1480 Heatherton Road, Dandenong, between the South Eastern Freeway and Princes Highway, enabling quick access to the city and Gippsland. St John of God Pinelodge Clinic bringing lives back into balance. Who do we care for? Life can be difficult to manage at times and we each react in different ways to stress in our lives. We provide treatment programs for people with an addiction to alcohol or drugs and those managing a psychiatric condition such as depression, anxiety, personality and post traumatic stress disorders. Our care We have a reputation for quality care. Our emphasis is on empowering people and assisting them to lead balanced, effective lives. We are accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards. Treatment and care may involve inpatient or day patient admission and in some instances, care at home. Patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times and we provide a number of areas for patients to relax in while not actively participating in therapy programs. The therapeutic inpatient and day patient program is based on cognitive behavioural therapy and includes such aspects as: Interpersonal and social skills Assertiveness Stress management Pain management Self awareness Confidence building Self esteem Building relationships Alcohol recovery Relaxation therapy Distress tolerance Breaking habits Art therapy Support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Admission and access We are only too happy to explain our programs and services in more detail or conduct an individual tour of the hospital. Enquiries about the hospital can be made to our Triage Admission Nurse on 8793 9478. Enquiries can be made directly or by a patient s medical practitioner. A referral to one of our psychiatrists can then be arranged. Fees Fees are charged for treatment. However, if you have private health insurance, most funds will contribute towards hospital fees. Our administration caregivers can check the status of your health cover on your behalf. All costs and any possible out of pocket expenses are discussed with the patient and/or close relatives prior to admission. Approved WorkCover, Veterans Affairs and Transport Accident Commission patients will have their hospital fees covered by the respective organisation.
Acute psychiatric services St John of God Pinelodge Clinic is able to treat a range of psychiatric disorders including the high prevalence disorders of depression, anxiety, personality and post traumatic stress disorders. We accept admissions across the life span and are able to call on specialist practitioners for young adults and the elderly. Admission is always under one of our accredited psychiatrists. Our multidisciplinary team includes specialist nursing care and therapy with dedicated allied health professionals. In keeping with contemporary psychiatric practice, our approach to treatment also encompasses a bio-psycho-social approach to ensure that all contributing factors to a psychiatric illness are addressed. Where appropriate, patients are encouraged to participate in the development and direction of their own care plan. Consulting suites For an appointment with a private psychiatrist, please enquire at our adjacent consulting suites by phoning 8793 9333 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Patients will require a referral from their general practitioner. Drug and alcohol services Alcohol or drug addiction can be a devastating illness and can have a significant impact upon the sufferer as well as their loved ones. At St John of God Pinelodge Clinic we pride ourselves on our compassion and expertise in treating the sufferers of addiction. We place a strong emphasis on involving family and significant others in a person s treatment and recovery, with education and information groups for family members, as well as the opportunity for individual sessions. Our program St John of God Pinelodge Clinic has a long history of addiction rehabilitation, providing a complete treatment program encompassing assessment, withdrawal, residential rehabilitation, and ongoing outpatient therapy and support. We have a dedicated ward offering inpatient stays of up to 28 days (subject to funding and clinical need) with 24 hour staffing for care and support. We have a three phase approach comprising: 1. Inpatient medical withdrawal, supervised by your treating doctor. 2. Intensive inpatient residential rehabilitation, with an individual program developed by our multidisciplinary team. 3. Comprehensive day program, which runs four to 16 weeks depending on specific issues and individual needs. Our extensive day patient program is provided to assist individuals become more empowered to deal with issues in their lives as often we get so caught up in our problems that it is difficult to see how we can turn things around and make a better life for ourselves and family. The group and individual sessions in each day patient program are facilitated by our team of highly qualified and experienced clinical psychologists and therapists. The programs incorporate best practice models from Australia and the United States. Full day patients are provided with a cooked buffet lunch and all necessary materials and handouts are supplied for each of our programs. We are able to provide a home psychiatric nursing service for patients with chronic disorders.
