2015 Scholarship Listing These are general descriptions of scholarships available for High School Seniors and/or College Students to apply for beginning December 19, 2014 and ending at 5pm on Monday, March 2, 2015. The online scholarship application will include questions relevant to the selection criteria for each scholarship. American Association of University Women Sue Gottcent Memorial Scholarship Fund For Lee County women who are enrolled in accredited programs of study at either 2- or 4-year accredited institutions. Preference to women 25 and older. Must be a resident of Lee County Must demonstrate financial need Preference will be given to women over 25 years of age Jordan Abdo Memorial Scholarship Fund For a North Fort Myers High School student athlete with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.5. James Bilder Scholarship Fund For Lee County high school students to pursue higher education with preference given to students attending vocational/technical schools. Must graduate from public high school in Lee County $5000 High School Senior $5,500 High School Senior $2900 High School Senior Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce / Ralph A. Richardson Fund To fund a scholarship for a graduate or high school senior of Estero High School, or the child of a current Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Member. Student must be a graduate or high school senior of Estero High School, or the child of a current Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Member Must be planning to continue his or her education at a vocation/technical school, college or university Must have attained a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher (grade point average on a 4.0 scale) for the previous three academic years and for the current year as of the date of the application $2500 (cont d pg3) High School Senior 2

Breitenbach Scholarship Fund For a needy student who was either a service member, or is a child or grandchild of a service member, who was in the United States Navy. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, or Lee counties Must be either a former service members in the United States Navy, or a child or grandchild Must provide proof of service in the United States Navy Selected applicants will be called for an interview. Carl E. Brooks Scholarship Fund For college bound students of one or more immigrant parents. Must graduate from public or private high school in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee counties Must provide proof of parent s immigrant status (copy of immigration card or birth certificate) Selected applicants will be called for an interview. Dorothy Curtis Brown Early Childhood Scholarship For a student or early childhood program director or assistant director who will pursue advanced certification from an accredited college or university to become an administrator or director at a child care center. Must enroll at an accredited college or university in Southwest Florida (Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee County) to obtain a CDA, Associate s Degree or Bachelor s Degree in Early Childhood Education. John & Ruth Childe Scholarship Fund For a Lee County student with a physical disability to pursue higher education in a college, university, or technical school. Must graduate from public or private high school in Lee County Must state disability in personal essay Couse-Gram Scholarship Fund For a Moore Haven High School student pursuing post-secondary education. Drs. Ira and Udaya Dash Nursing Scholarship Fund For a student studying nursing at Florida SouthWestern or FGCU. Must reside in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee County Must plan to attend or be attending Edison State College or Florida Gulf Coast University Must be enrolled in Nursing Program Mary Ann Elder Scholarship Fund For a student who is entering or continuing a Master Degree Program in social work at an accredited university or college. Must be from the five-county area of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee County. Must be entering or continuing a Master Degree Program in social work at an accredited university or college. Dunbar Heritage Scholarship Fund For a Dunbar High School graduate of African-American descent to pursue a bachelor s degree at an accredited college. Must be a graduating member of Dunbar High School Must be of African-American descent Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher Must enter college within the year following high school graduation Anne M. Fassett Scholarship Fund For post high school educational opportunities at the college, community college, or technical school level for men and women with a physical disability who use a wheelchair. Must graduate from public or private high school in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee counties; or be currently enrolled or planning to attend a Florida state college, community college, or technical school Must have a physical disability and use a wheelchair $850 High School Senior $750 To be determined by Committee High School Senior $3,700 High School Senior Paul B. & Aline Flynn Scholarship Fund For students pursuing a degree from a 4-year accredited college in communications or journalism. Doris W. Frey Memorial Scholarship Fund For students studying Christian ministry/youth ministry, Christian counseling, nursing, or medicine. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades or Lee counties Must pursue a degree in one of the above fields Must maintain satisfactory grades Must be committed to a life of Christian service Must demonstrate a commitment through action in ministering to others Must have recognized ability & academic performance with standard measures of grades & appropriate test scores Bruce T. Gora Photography Scholarship Fund For a high school senior or a college student at an accredited Florida college, university, or applicable technical school who is a Fine Arts Major concentrating in photography. Must graduate from a public or private school in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Glades, or Charlotte County Must pursue a major in Fine Arts Photography at a Florida college, university, or technical school must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least a 2.5. Francis Harris Gresham Scholarship Fund For tuition for college bound seniors from Lee County high schools. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Lee County $2700 High School Senior $1,100 High School Senior $1400 High School Senior Chip Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund For students who have completed 60 hours of college and plan to attend Barry University, FGCU, Nova, Edison State College, or Hodges University. Must have completed 60 semester hours of college and plan to continue study toward a 4-year degree at Barry University, FGCU, Nova, Edison State College or Hodges University, or a regionally accredited college in the 5-county area Must have a GPA of 3.5 or above and an outstanding record of academic achievement Must live in the 5-county area served by the Community Foundation (Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee) Must demonstrate leadership, community service and service to school $5750 5

George E. Judd Scholarship Fund For tuition for graduating Lee County seniors pursuing higher education in the fine or performing arts. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Lee County. Must pursue a degree in fine or performing arts. William L. Graddy Law School Scholarship Fund For students who have completed the first year at an accredited law school. Must have completed first year of law school Must have a GPA of 2.8 or above Must have been a resident of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee county for at least 3 years Must demonstrate financial need Matt Harmon Memorial Scholarship Fund For books and tuition for college-bound baseball players. Must graduate from a public school in Lee County Must be male and have played baseball in high school Doc Keen Memorial Scholarship Fund For a high school student who was an active member of 4-H or FFA for two consecutive years and attended a Clewiston or LaBelle High School. Must graduate from Clewiston or LaBelle high school Must pursue higher education Must maintain satisfactory grades Must have been active member of 4-H or FFA for 2 consecutive years Isabel Mayer Kirkpatrick Scholarship Fund For tuition for Lee County high school graduates with a B average (3.0-3.7). Must graduate from public or private high school in Lee County Must be well rounded in terms of education, community service, sports and leadership activities Must have a grade point average between 3.0-3.7 (anything higher will disqualify the student) $1,000 High School Senior $800 Graduate Students in Law School $750 High School Senior $750 High School Senior $2100 High School Senior 6

Robert A. Kleckner Scholarship Fund For a financially needy high school, undergraduate, or graduate student pursuing a career in finance or accounting. Must graduate from a high school in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee counties Must pursue a degree in finance or accounting Love of Bonita Empowerment Scholarship Fund For books, tuition, and/or course fees for Bonita Springs residents who have been out of school for at least two years to attend a college or technical school. Must be a resident of Bonita Springs Lee County Library Sciences Scholarship Fund Beginning in the year 2015, this fund will provide scholarships for Lee County residents pursuing a Bachelor or Masters degree in Library Science. Must have completed at least 60 Semester Hours and have at least a B average. Must provide 120 hours of service, paid or unpaid, to Lee County Library System while pursuing degree or immediately following degree completion. $1750 High School Senior $950 Students out of high school at least 2 yrs or received a GED $1250 Norman Marcus Scholarship Fund Preference should be given to a student who is a high school graduate from a high school in Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, Glades or Collier County and who can demonstrate financial need. The scholarship fund will award one scholarship to a student for 4 years or for such time as will allow the student to complete a college or graduate degree. The student must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 to receive the scholarship each succeeding year. Must demonstrate financial need. $2000 renewable for 4 yrs High School Seniors Ruth Messmer Scholarship Fund For women pursuing a business career in college. Must graduate from public or private high school in Lee, Charlotte, Glades, Hendry or Collier counties Must be a woman pursuing a business career in college Must have at least a B average Must be well-rounded in terms of education, community service, and leadership activities $1100 High School Seniors 7

Julie Willard Mikell Fund For a financially needy Lee County high school senior to attend a 2- or 4-year regionally accredited college or university. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Lee County Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA Must demonstrate strong ties to the community through extracurricular activities, religious endeavors or community service Judge William J. Nelson Scholarship Fund For a high school senior who will be attending the University of Florida. Must graduate from a high school in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee counties Must have overcome adversity in some way Must attend the University of Florida $1600 High School Seniors $1650 High School Seniors Robert B. and Dorothy Pence Scholarship Fund For economically disadvantaged Lee County students to attend college or technical school. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Lee County Must be an industrious student with good moral character Chet and Janett Perry Rotary Club of Fort Myers Scholarship Fund For a student pursuing a career in accounting. Must be graduating from a public or private high school in Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades or Lee counties Must pursue a degree in accounting Must enter college within a year following high school Graduation Faye Lynn Roberts Education Scholarship Fund For women pursuing a career in technical studies, court reporting, computer training, or nursing. Must be 21 years of age or older Must be a resident of Lee County Must demonstrate financial need $1800 High School Seniors $900 High School Seniors $750 8

David G. Robinson Arts Scholarship Fund For tuition for Lee County high school seniors who plan to study the arts in an accredited school. Must graduate from a high school in Lee County Must be an industrious student with good moral character Must show leadership and community service $2250 High School Seniors Sanibel Community Church Scholarship Fund: Next Generation Fund Trust For a child or grandchild of a member of Sanibel Community Church. Must be a child or grandchild of a member of Sanibel Community Church Must show academic excellence and other abilities Must be a high school graduate; private, public or home schooled certified Must have a commitment to the Christian faith and lifestyle Must have a willingness to serve others in a church and community Robert C. & Margaret A. Schikora Scholarship Fund For needy students who have previously graduated from high schools in Lee County to pursue postsecondary educational opportunities. Must graduate from public or private high school in Lee County with documented B average Must be well rounded in terms of education, community service, sports and leadership activities $1200 High School Seniors $1200 John M. & Mary A. Shanley Memorial Scholarship For a 4-year scholarship to students studying medicine, law, dentistry, teaching (math & science), ministry, engineering, accounting, agriculture, architecture, or computer science. Must graduate from a high school in Charlotte, Hendry, or Lee counties Financial need will be a consideration Must pursue one of the above listed degrees GPA of 3.0 or higher Selected applicants will be called for an interview. $5000 renewable up to 4 yrs High School Seniors 9

Ellen Sheppard Scholarship Fund For a Lee County high school senior or a graduate currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in art (specifically visual arts painting, photography, or sculpture) or nursing. Must pursue a degree in Art (specifically visual arts-painting, photography or sculpture) or Nursing Must graduate from a high school in Lee County Preference will be given to students who are in their first year of college; however, students at all class levels will be considered Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA John and Ellen Sheppard Humane Student Scholarship Fund For high school seniors with a belief in a universal creator of life who are actively involved in school and student life with a commitment to help others through volunteer work in community, charitable or religious organizations. Must graduate from a public or private high school in Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, or Glades counties Must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, unweighted Must acknowledge belief in a universal creator of life or higher power and be actively involved in school and student life with a willingness and a commitment to helping others. Southwest Florida Deputy Sheriffs Association Fund For high school students who are dependents of local law enforcement officers. Must graduate from high school in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, or Lee counties Must be a dependent of an active Sheriff s Office law enforcement officer in one of the above counties Must list name of law enforcement officer on application and provide documentation of employment with the Sheriff s Office $2800 High School Seniors $2300 High School Seniors $1500 High School Seniors Anne Sturrock Nursing Scholarship Fund For a student pursuing nursing who is a member, or a child of a member, of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral. Must be a resident of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry or Lee County. Must be highly motivated. Must pursue teaching, nursing paramedic training, or emergency medical technician training. Richard S. Thompson and Marion L. Thompson Memorial Fund For Lee County students pursuing a post high school science education. Must have a GPA of at least 3.5 Must graduate from a high school in Lee County Selected applicants will be called for an interview. G. Napier and Ellen T. Wilson Scholarship Fund For an outstanding high school student who has volunteered at a Veterans Administration Hospital, Clinic or similar organization providing services to military veterans to attend an accredited university, college or vocational technical institution.
