60 YONCA-ONUK J.V. Yonca-Onuk JV is the designer and builder of ONUK MRTP Advanced composite fast patrol boats. The shipyard, established in 1986, is located in Tuzla, Istanbul, and has a 12,500 m 2 covered area and air-conditioned composite production shops. Yonca-Onuk has the capacity to build high-speed boats up to 50m in length and 300 tonnes displacement out of advanced composites. Production methods are in full compliance with the AQAP 2120 NATO Quality Assurance System, with engineering and production conforming to Det Norske Veritas (DNV) HSLC classification rules. To date, Yonca-Onuk JV has built and delivered more than 80 Fast Patrol/Attack boat to various customers in Turkey and around the world. Launching the ONUK MRTP Programme in 1997 with the Kaan15 class ONUK MRTP15s of the Turkish Coast Guard, Yonca-Onuk is today building the ONUK MRTP16 (17.75m, 70 knots), the ONUK MRTP20 (22.55m, 56knots), the ONUK MRTP20/U (Water-jet propulsion version), the ONUK MRTP22/U (24.08m, 53knots), the ONUK MRTP29 (31.65m, 47 knots) and the ONUK MRTP33 (35.65m, 42 knots) for both Turkish and foreign customers. 61 Besides the recent contract with the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) to supply 17 ONUK MRTP20s to the Turkish Coast Guard, the Yonca-Onuk JV will supply six ONUK MRTP20 Improved Fast Intervention Craft to the Egyptian Navy, three of which will be built in the Yonca-Onuk Facilities in Turkey, and three to be built in the Alexandria Shipyard in Egypt with the full assistance of Yonca-Onuk JV.
