Animals and Their Sounds Prepare the cards: print, laminate and trim around each of the cards. For Non-Readers You will need to pair this work with picture cards of the animals. You won t require all of them at once - select 6 at a time. Below is a sample of how you can introduce this work to a non-reader - it requires adult assistance. 1. Place the picture card on the table. These are bees. 2. Place the bees card beside it. Point to the word bees and say bees. 3. Bees make a sound like this.[make a humming noise]. 4. Place the hum word card down, point to hum and say hum. Select the next picture and repeat the above procedure. Show the child how to place the Animal Card and the Sound Card at the top of the table. 2. Keep the cards separate by color, but shuffle each set of cards so that they are not in alphabetical order. 3. Read each animal card and place it below the Animal Card which is at the top of the table. 4. Place the Sound Card beside the Animal Card at the top of the table. 5. Show the child how they will read a Sound Card, find the correct animal that makes that sound and match the cards together. 6. Read a Control Card and use it to make sure the Animal and Sound Cards have been matched correctly.
