School Summer Programs Georgia/Alabama
Fort Benning Schools The DoDEA Schools will not have the Summer Enrichment Program this year as it has had in the past. This decision came from HQ. The reason was based on the reduced interest/enrollment in the program and reduced funding. Each year we have what is called "Extended School Year" (ESY) program. It is approximately 5 weeks in length, and serves children with disabilities who qualify based on their educational regression.
Fort Benning Schools Teachers conduct comprehensive testing of children to determine eligibility for ESY. Most students included in this program are Moderately/Severely disabled. We will not have an tutoring or other types of summer school programs.

Muscogee County School District High School Summer Credit Recovery Programs will be schoolbased this summer. Each high school will offer two options for credit recovery: * Extended Semester: Program is designed to extend second semester to allow students to complete coursework based on the recommendation of the administration and the teacher of record. * Georgia Virtual Credit Recovery: Provides online (web based) access and instruction to Georgia students registered for a Credit Recovery course. The prescribed program of instruction begins with a pre-assessment based on the
Muscogee County School District Georgia Performance Standards for a unit of the course. The results of this pre-assessment indicate whether the student has achieved mastery of the objectives or whether he/she needs to spend more time on this particular content. After the student has achieved the desired level of mastery, he/she will take the unit test. The grades for the course are based on the unit test scores combined with a final exam or the state mandated EOCT, if appropriate. The assigned online modules are designed to be student centered allowing the student to work at a pace consistent with their individual learning style. * Middle School Summer Course Recovery: Each middle school will continue to implement school-based summer course recovery program.
