Counterbalance shall consist of oil tempered and heat treated steel helical torsion springs housed in steel pipe. Springs shall be anchored to a torsion rod extending the full length of springs. Torsion rod shall have fixed on it a single balancing wheel placed on the outside of one of the brackets. Steel pipe shall not exceed 0.03 inch per foot deflection and shall be provided with spiral cast iron rings whenever allowed by the design. 3. Brackets shall be of 1/4 inch minimum steel plate. Bracket mouth and stops shall be in an established distance between center and back of bracket providing a throat which permits smooth operation without friction and eliminates the excessive drag of curtain over the stops. 4. Guides shall be of 3/16 inch minimum hot rolled steel angles, and shall be equipped with windlocking bars and continuous vinyl weatherstripping which shall contact and seal the flat face of the curtain. Weatherstripping shall retain contact with the curtain at all times and shall be protected by windlocking bar from damaging compression. Guides shall form a slot of sufficient depth to retain curtain in guides against heavy wind pressure and shall be provided with anchors for windlocks. 5. Gears, except those which are part of the motor unit, shall be of high tensile gray iron castings conforming to Federal Specification QQ-1-652 and shall be made from machine cut patterns. 6. Bearings shall be self-aligning precision type bearings of seal cartridge type, or self-aligning, self-lubricating bronze sleeve bearings. 7. Hood shall be not less than 24 gauge hot galvanized sheet steel, formed to fit contour of brackets and enclose the curtain coil. Hood shall be neatly formed and reinforced with beads or flanges to prevent deflection. Neoprene air baffle, attached to the hood connection and extending full length of barrel, shall be provided to prevent air infiltration at the top of door. Backside of hoods exposed to exterior shall be finished flush without deformity from 16 gauge minimum hot dipped galvanized sheet steel. 8. Bottom bar seal shall be neoprene loop suspended between the two hot rolled steel bottom bar angles thru bolted at 12 inches on center. 2.02 EQUIPMENT: A. MOTOR OPERATORS: Operators shall be Model CHO operators mounted bracket plate. Motor operator units shall consist of a motor, directly connected 0833-4 2012.01

2.03 CONTROLS: to a speed reducer, a solenoid activated brake, a limit switch and an endless chain for emergency operation. All electrical equipment shall conform to NEMA standards. The motor shall be of high starting torque and of sufficient capacity to operate door at a speed of approximately 2/3 of a foot per second, shall be suitable for operation on the current characteristics available at place of installation and shall have overload protection. Each unit shall be provided with a magnetic across the line starter having thermal overload protection and unless otherwise specified shall be equipped with push button marked "Open", "Close" and "Stop". The limit switch shall be of the adjustable screw type and shall be so mounted as not to have its timing affected when the door changes from motor to manual operation. The speed reducer shall be of the worm gear type, completely housed and running in an oil bath, shall satisfy the AGMA Standards and shall be of sufficient capacity for the use intended. Emergency operation shall be through auxiliary hand chain extending to a point easily accessible from the floor. Drive from reducer to door shaft shall be through roller chain operating on cut tooth steel sprockets. Each unit shall be provided with electric interlock so the motor cannot be started when door is being operated by hand and shall be constructed so manual operation may be effected even when motor is disconnected from the unit. 1. Chain holder locking devices shall be provided at all motor operated doors. 2. Electric power for door operators will be 208 volt, 3 phase, 60 Hz. It shall be the responsibility of the door supplier to verify and coordinate electrical current characteristics with the electrical contractor. 3. FIELD TESTING: Each and every steel roll-up door shall be field tested by the Contractor just prior to final inspection to verify that doors operate properly under all operating conditions. Field testing procedures shall include the following where applicable: 1. Testing of each control station for execution of all specified control functions. 2. Testing of proper setting of limit switches for door travel. 3. Testing of chain operators including checking for automatic disengagement of motor operator while chain operator is engaged. 3.04 CLEANING: All rubbish resulting from installation of steel roll-up doors shall be systematically collected and removed from the jobsite.
