Quick Set-Up Guide The adjustable base is delivered as a complete unit. The only loose items in the box should be the following: 1 Wireless Remote Control (3 AAA Batteries Included) 4 7.5 Inch Black Powder Coated Legs Mattress Retaining Bar(s) (Queen Adjustable Bases have 2) Power Cord (4 Pieces AC/DC Power Adapter, Power Cord Plug, Master Controller Cable and Emergency Back Up Battery Box) Split King Base Connector Brackets (Only included with Twin XL bases)(optional) Simultaneous Synchronization Cable (Only included with Twin XL bases)(optional) 1. Un-pack the adjustable bed by carefully cutting the plastic bag to remove the adjustable bed. 2. CAREFULLY turn the adjustable bed base on its side (it may require two people to do this) and ensure that all wires are connected. They might have become disconnected during shipment. 3. If using the Split King Base, locate the Connector Brackets and refer to the instructions for Joining Two Twin XL Adjustable Bases on Page 5 for installation. 4. Locate the box with the legs and screw the legs into the pre-drilled holes by hand. The legs must be installed onto the adjustable base; the base will not operate properly without them. 5. Assemble the Power Cord which includes the Master Controller Cable, AC/DC Power Adapter with Power Cord Plug and the Emergency Back Up Battery Box combination as shown on Page 6, Figure 3. NOTE: Only put batteries into the Emergency Back-Up battery box during an electrical outage and after the power cord is un-plugged from the wall. 6. Install the mattress retainer bar. (Refer to the instructions for the Mattress Retainer Bar on Page 4.) 2
7. CAREFULLY place the bed back on all four legs and plug in the bed. 8. Locate the wireless remote control and insert 3 AAA batteries (provided). The remote control is pre-programmed to work with the adjustable bed. If you have more than one adjustable bed, each remote control and adjustable bed set should be set up with a different frequency. This will prevent both beds from being controlled by one wireless remote control. (See Wireless Remote Control Frequency Set-up on Page 7 if you have more than one wireless remote control/base combination.) 9. Test the bed by pressing the Head Up button to make sure the bed is properly functioning. If the bed fails to work once plugged in, reset the remote control frequency. 10. Place mattress on adjustable bed base once the bed is plugged in and functioning correctly. CAUTION: Do not place the adjustable bed base or any of its components near or in water. 3
Mattress Retainer Bar To install the mattress retainer bar: 1. Locate the chrome mattress retainer bar(s) in the packaging (Twin XL requires 1 retainer bar, Queen requires 2 retainer bars.) 2. Underneath the foot of the base, there are two brackets to insert the mattress retainer bar. Slide the retainer bar into the brackets. 3. Secure with clip provided into the groove on the end of the mattress retainer bar. This will hold the mattress retainer bar in place. (see Figure 1 and Figure 2 below). Figure 1: Figure 2: 4
Joining Two Twin XL Adjustable Bases If a split setup is being installed, metal connector brackets are provided (one per base) to secure the bases together. The brackets connect the bases together at the leg. To install the connector brackets, remove the star knobs from the connecter bracket and slip the threaded bolt of the legs through the desired hole in the connector bracket before screwing the legs into the bed base. Once each base has a connector bracket installed on the corresponding leg, the bases can be connected by screwing both of the star knobs back into the connector brackets. 5

Wireless Remote Control Frequency Set-Up This process is used when the remote control is not communicating with the bed (the base is not responding by moving when the remote control is activated) and/or when there is more than one adjustable bed and remote control combination in the home. If there is more than one adjustable bed and remote control combination in the home, the frequency in which the adjustable bed and the remote control use to communicate with each other must be different in each bed/remote control combination in order to prevent the remote control from operating an adjustable base other than the one it is designated to control. This also pertains to a King size bed whereas the bed is made up of two Twin XL bases each with their own specific remote control. Both of these adjustable bed/remote control sets must be on different frequencies in order to have individual control of each side of the bed. 1. Unplug the adjustable base that is not being programmed. 2. While the bed that is being programmed is plugged in, remove the battery cover on the back of the remote control. 3. Identify the switch frequency area; there will be a red background with 4 white switches. (See Figure 4 on Page 12.) 4. Change the switches to a unique number combination by pushing the switches numbered 1 to 4 up and or down. Replace the battery cover to the remote control. 5. Unplug the bed from the electrical outlet; make sure the light on the AC/DC power adapter is off and not lit up before proceeding. 7
6. Wait for 60 seconds and then plug the bed back into the electrical outlet. Once the bed is plugged back into an electrical outlet, Step 7 will need to be performed in the first 30 seconds of the bed being plugged back into an electrical outlet. If the 30 seconds has passed after the bed was plugged back into an electrical outlet and Step 7 was not performed, the bed will need to be unplugged for 60 seconds again. 7. Point the remote control towards the center of the undercarriage of the adjustable base, press and hold the Head Up and Feet Up position buttons simultaneously until the LED backlight begins to flash. (See Figure 5 on Page 12.) 8. Release the Head Up and Feet Up buttons, the LED backlight will continue to flash while the master controller is synchronizing with the remote control. Do not press any buttons on the remote control until the LED backlight stops flashing. Once the lights stop flashing the synchronization is complete. 8
Wireless Remote Control Frequency Set Up: Simultaneous Synchronization Cable: This process programs two adjustable bases to be controlled at the same time by either remote control. This allows for synchronized control of the two bases. 1. Connect the Simultaneous Synchronization Cable/ Phone Cable to the plug marked SYNCHRO CNTL on the Master Controller on one adjustable base to the plug marked SYNCHRO CNTL on the Master Controller on the other adjustable base. 2. Wireless remote control frequency set up will not be required after the Simultaneous Syncronization Cable/ Phone Cable is connected from one base to the other. The adjustable bases should then be able to operate simultaneously with either wireless remote control. Master Controller: Simultaneous Synchronization Cable: 9
Wireless Remote Control Frequency Set Up: Simultaneous Synchronization with Wireless Remote Control: This process programs two adjustable bases to be controlled at the same time by either remote control without having to install the Simultaneous Synchronization Cable under the bed. This allows for synchronized control of the two bases. (See Figure 5 on Page 12.) 10
8. Release the Head Up and Feet Up buttons, the LED backlight will continue to flash while the master controller is synchronizing with the remote control. Do not press any buttons on the remote control until the LED backlight stops flashing. Once the lights stop flashing the synchronization is complete. 9. Unplug the adjustable base that was just programmed. 10. While the bed that is being programmed is plugged in, remove the battery cover on the back of the remote control. 11. Identify the switch frequency area; there will be a red background with 4 white switches. (See Figure 4 on Page 12.) 12. Change the switches to the same number combination that was used on the other remote control by pushing the switches numbered 1 to 4 up and or down. Replace the battery cover to the remote control. 13. Unplug the bed from the electrical outlet for 60 seconds; make sure the light on the AC/DC power adapter is off and not lit up before proceeding. Once the bed is plugged back into an electrical outlet, Step 14 will need to be performed in the first 30 seconds of the bed being plugged back into an electrical outlet. If the 30 seconds has passed after the bed was plugged back into an electrical outlet and Step 14 was not performed, the bed will need to be unplugged for 60 seconds again. 14. Point the remote control towards the center of the undercarriage of the adjustable base, press and hold the Head Up and Feet Up position buttons simultaneously until the LED backlight begins to flash. (See Figure 5 on Page 12.) 15. Release the Head Up and Feet Up buttons, the LED backlight will continue to flash while the master controller is synchronizing with the remote control. Do not press any buttons on the remote control until the LED backlight stops flashing. Once the lights stop flashing the synchronization is complete. 11

Remote Control Features The Motion Comfort Adjustable Bed remote control includes the following functions: Head positioning control button One touch reading position button Head massage control button One touch Flat button Foot positioning control button One touch Zero Gravity button Foot massage control button Stop Stops all functions Emergency Battery Back Up In case of a power failure, the Motion Comfort Adjustable bed features an emergency backup feature that allows you to return the bed to the flat position without electrical power. 1. Unplug the adjustable base. 2. Locate the Emergency Battery Back Up Box that is attached to the power cord. 3. Insert four 9 Volt alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery box. 4. Using the remote control, return the base to its flat position. 5. Immediately remove the four 9 Volt batteries after the base is returned to the flat position. The four 9 Volt batteries must be removed before power is restored to the adjustable bed base. NOTE: Leaving in the 9 Volt batteries in the Emergency Battery Back Up Box after power has been restored will cause the electrical components to short out and damage the master controller. 14
Weight Recommendations and Limits The recommended weight restriction for the Motion Comfort Adjustable Bed is 600 pounds, which is calculated to include the weight of the mattress. In order to calculate the weight limit subtract the weight of the mattress from 600 pounds. The bed will support the recommended weight limits if distributed evenly across the base. This product is not designed to support or lift the total maximum weight limit by the head or the foot section only. Consumers should not enter or exit the bed with any portion of the adjustable bed base in the raised position. Always return the adjustable bed base to a flat position before entering or exiting the bed. Do not sit on the head or foot section of the bed while the bed is in a raised position. If the weight limit is exceeded on the head or foot mechanism, the master controller will stop all functions. Exceeding the recommended weight restrictions could damage the bed and void the warranty Operating Noises The Motion Comfort adjustable bed comes with a massage feature. The massage function emits a noticeable tone during operation. As the massage intensity level is increased, the tone will intensify. The noise will be less audible on a carpeted floor and a bit more noticeable when on a hard floor surface. During typical operation, the wheels, which allow the bed to articulate, will make contact with the steel platform supports of the base creating a contact noise. When entering, exiting or shifting weight on the base, this contact noise may be audible as the wheels make contact with the steel platform supports of the base. This is normal. 15
Helpful Hints If one or more functions on the bed base have stopped operating: Check under the bed base to verify that the wired connections are secure and that there are no cords or bedding obstructing the movement of the base. Check that the power cord is assembled properly. If the lights on your remote control no longer illuminate and will not operate your adjustable bed base: Make sure the batteries are installed correctly. Install (3) new AAA batteries in the remote control. If all of the remote control buttons illuminate, however nothing on your adjustable bed base will operate: Unplug the base for 5 minutes to reset the electronic components. Plug the adjustable base into a different electrical outlet, or test current outlet with another working appliance (a grounded, electrical surge protector is recommended.) Complete the Wireless Remote Control Frequency Set Up on page 7 as the frequency on the bed may have been lost. If the head or foot mechanisms will elevate but will not return to the flat position: Check the undercarriage for obstructions. Remove any obstructions away from the head and foot mechanisms and return the base to its flat position.
