CBRN CoE Project 03 CBRN CoE Project 03 ICIS Insubria Center on International Security, University of Insubria Project Title: Knowledge Development And Transfer Of Best Practice On Bio safety/bio Security/Bio risk Management Key Tasks: Collection of local situation assessment and training priorities Sharing of selection criteria and selection of NETs that will take part to the 1st training phase. Creation of a Platform to implement the e learning (open source tools that will be available after the end of the project) and creation of an e library Finalization of the content of the first modules of the training (e learning and in presence)

CBRN CoE Project 06 CBRN CoE Project 06 Fondazione FORMIT Awareness and Knowledge development Knowledge transfer Project Title: CB Waste Management Knowledge development and transfer of best practice on chemical and biological waste management Key Tasks: Raise awareness on the security concerns associated with toxic chemical and biohazardous waste materials. Improve regional cooperation and harmonization with international standards on the safe and secure management chemical and biological waste. Promote safe and secure management procedures for waste materials (toxic chemicals, sensitive biological materials) and associated equipment. Reinforce the sharing and transfer of best practices on chemical and biological waste management. Develop a training system on the identification of categories of chemical or biological waste that could pose specific dual use concerns in the region.

CBRN CoE Project 08 PROJECT OBJECTIVES 1. Strengthen and enhance national legal systems through the provision of legal support in particular in the fields of border, export, and transit/transshipping controls; the protection of CBRN materials/facilities; denying support for CBRN terrorism/misuse; investigation/prosecution, and the management of CBRN waste 2. Contribute to the compliance with international obligations and the fostering of international consistency in the formulation and application of national law related to CBRN concerns PROJECT ACTIVITIES Provide comprehensive analysis of the States CBRN national legal frameworks through legislation surveys Identify gaps in national legal frameworks Co operate with national officials to develop tailored solutions through Action Plans Provide legislative support and drafting assistance Inform and liaise with the BWC Implementation Support Unit (ISU) on project activities concerning BWC national implementation

CBRN CoE Project 12 CBRN CoE Project 12 France Expertise Internationale (FEI) Objective: Sharing of experience with the EU and development of recommendations for countries at need on the reinforcement of national legislation and regulations in the area of laboratory biosafety & biosecurity, under the scope of the International Health Regulations (IHR) Geographical Scope: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Vietnam Duration: 2 years, April 2013 March 2015 CONTACTS: Mr. Vincent Trouve vincent.trouve@dipl omatie.gouv.fr

CBRN CoE Project 12 Justification: The IHR are legally binding for all countries, their implementation implies compliance with internationally recognized regulations and procedures, particularly in the laboratory area Among the 20 indicators selected for reporting to the annual World Health Assembly, 3 are related to EU CBRN CoE project 12: 1. Legislation, laws, regulations, administrative requirements, policies or other government instruments in place are sufficient for implementation of IHR. 12. Laboratory services are available to test for priority health threats. 13. Laboratory biosafety and laboratory biosecurity (Biorisk management) practices are in place. Project in 3 phases: 1. Inventory of the national legislation and standards April 2013 March 2014 2. Analysis of national legislations and standards and comparison with EU, with regards to IHR requirements April 2014 October 2014 3. Development of recommendations (Regional Workshop) November 2014 March 2015
