Since its inception, the GEG Youth Achievement Program has attracted 1,800 participants who had completed a series of activities designed to facilitate their interaction with the community, enhance their care for the underprivileged, and develop their teamwork and leadership skills through learning and sharing. Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, said that young people are the future pillars of society and that GEG is committed to developing young people s all-round talents. The six members of the champion group from last year s YAP final project were invited to serve as ambassadors in this year s Program. Through experience sharing, the ambassadors helped participants overcome their difficulties during the project execution phase and assisted teams in achieving their goals through communication and teamwork. With the theme on caring for the community, the fifth GEG Youth Achievement Program received 295 applicants. Through a series of activities including training camps, workshops, community service challenge day and community canteen, participants were encouraged to identify the needs of society and uncover their personal strengths. Among the 295 participants, 76 of them were selected to enter the final project. After an intense competition, the group Creation, formed by So Wai Chung, Tong Wai Hou, Lam Ka Wa, Chao Man Cheong, Hou Im Hong and Pun Man Leng, took home the champion award with their outstanding performance.
