Building a data centre entails a large investment; maintaining and running it means significant ongoing investments. In most enterprises, these expenses cannot be justified because the data centre does not have an impact on competitive differentiation strategy. Outsourcing the data centre is the logical solution. Cost isn t the only factor driving data centre outsourcing. With the data centre out of the way, IT departments can focus on development and other important functions. The availability of energy and infrastructure is another driver. Growing organisations scale up their server capacities and expanding their data centres; if the decision is to build, finding a workable location for the data centre can become a challenge in itself. For enterprises that decide to outsource their data centres, there is again a decision tree: Colocate or use dedicated servers? Traditional colocation or managed colocation? The decision to use a colocation service creates a clear, single point of accountability, while making it easy to oversee vendors. Contracting processes and management overheads are minmised, and procurement of additional services becomes easy. Colocation can work as a life cycle extender for out-of-capacity data centres; it is also a solution if you need an alternative computing facility. You could use colocation, in a temporary measure, as an adjunct to an existing data centre where space (or power, or cooling) is near capacity. BSNL IDC Managed Colocation goes a step beyond traditional colocation, completely freeing you from the management of your data centre. Our engineers and technicians monitor the infrastructure, dealing with issues as needed. The availability of 24x7 support, and the guarantees you get on security and availability, make managed colocation a particularly attractive option if your need is to focus your IT efforts beyond infrastructure. If you wish to manage your own installation, and additional physical security is your prime requirement, you have Caged Space as a service option. You get a mesh wall around the racks, plus dedicated connectivity infrastructure. Our facilities are equipped and capable on every front, from security to connectivity to reliability. Security We ve addressed every aspect of data centre infrastructure security and security of the premises. Row level CCTV systems are already deployed. Access to our facilities is secured by multifactor authentication, including card swipe and biometric type reading systems. In fact, we have five layers of security and over 25 levels of checks and balances in place. Your equipment is exhaustively protected from fire-and water-related incidents. Analog addressable fire detection systems are active at the entire facility. Smoke and gas clearance systems, water leakage detectors, and water levees are integral to our infrastructure. All physical access to our facilities is logged and audited by an independent firm (as per ISO 27001 certification). Connectivity Connectivity to BSNL IDC data centres is via MPLS, dark fibre, secured VPN, leased line, Internet, and other modes. The structured cabling system supports up to 100 Gig, with intelligent backbone cabling between the data centres. Multiple prime Points of Presence are located within the MMRs. Reliability We have India s first and only Uptime Institute certified, SSAE 16 / ISAE 3402 compliant, tier III data centres. They are located at six strategic locations in Northern and Western India, and have backbone-based interconnectivity with point-to-point Ethernet tunnels. Our SLA Commitment to Power is 99.982 percent, as per Tier III certifications. Our service operation framework is based on proven techniques and a suite of best practices. We have comprehensive processes in place for managing incidents, right from the initial report through to resolution. BSNL IDC Managed Colocation goes a step beyond traditional colocation, completely freeing you from the management of your data centre. If you wish to manage your own installation, however, you have Caged Space as a service option.

IT staff can divert their efforts towards businessoriented efforts 24x7 Service hosted at SSAE / ISAE audited IDCs; you are assured of uptime, data and service integrity, and support from certified technicians Reliability Efficiency Depends on investment You need to invest on redundant infrastructure and/ or on monitoring Difficult to achieve You need to correctly identify suitable IDC premises, weigh infrastructure options, procure suitable equipment Guaranteed Redundancy and fault tolerance measures at our data centres translate to guaranteed availability High Some of the greenest data centres in the country, with a PUE of less than 1.7
Managed Services Our Managed Services complement our Colocation Services to offer you a complete IT Management suite. These will be tailored to your requirements on features and SLAs. Remote Hands Manages your equipment remotely without your having to be onsite. Basic Server Monitoring Services Alerts you instantly of system resource problems, as reported by tools that perform proactive system monitoring as well as network accessibility and web service checks on servers. Advanced Server Monitoring Services Sends automatic notifications of alarms and/or events to any mail-enabled device. This lets you establish notification rules and access near-real-time and historical reports for each monitored parameter and event notification. Performance Analysis Service Monitors and analyses historical and current performance of components. We manage application availability and performance through real-time alarms and present recommendations for performance improvement plans. We also align system performance with your business needs by identifying performance trends and expediting problem resolution. Capacity Management Service Generates and analyses statistics on managed components, this service detects and alerts you to unusual traffic patterns. It also provides recommendations on capacity and architectural changes, identifies overutilisation of capacity based on thresholds, and conducts performance tuning services for the server s OS. Managed Local Load Balancing (LLB) Services Managed LLB is designed with a single connection (Ethernet, FE or GE) to the Internet. It is based on a virtual IP configured on the Load Balancing switch, which balances traffic across your servers within a data centre. Multiple servers can act as a single server by distributing user requests among themselves. The virtual IP address can then perform load balancing by listening for traffic. Application Acceleration Services An enhanced load balancing service; supports SSL acceleration, caching and compression. It is an adaptable, intelligent solution that improves application performance and network efficiencies by off-loading servers with appliances. Database Services Our database services are supported across our offerings, including, Oracle, MS-SQL and MySQL. Leave it to us to install the services and ensure they are running properly, and also to work with vendors on fault isolation and resolution. We offer database clustering services for increased reliability and availability. Backup Services A highly secure, cost-effective, hassle-free alternative to protect critical business data. A user-friendly interface lets you define what data to back up and when. Once the backup application has been installed, data will be encrypted, compressed and sent to our data centres via a secure private network according to schedule. For added robustness, data is stored on a redundant disk infrastructure within our fault-tolerant data centres. After the initial full backup, each additional run backs up the latest updates.
