Useful information / Warranty 1 FOR DESIGNERS FOR PURCHASERS FOR USERS WARRANTY
Useful information FOR DESIGNERS 1) Our SBR composite seals feature excellent mechanical properties, meeting the requirement to withstand ozone attack and featuring better water absorption characteristics than those provided by polychloroprene compounds. The use of polychloroprene specification should be restricted to special conditions: a) Regions with high U.V. rays incidence and environments with high ozone concentration. b) The effect of environmental aggressive factors, such as certain chemicals, not usually occurring in clean river waters (chemicals for instances). 2) In some cases, not even SBR or CR will be adequate to the environment where gates are installed (for instance, radiations or an acid medium). Our technicians will indicate the proper elastomer for each specific case. 3) Depending on project requirements, seal hardness properties other than 50/60 Shore A and 60/70 Shore A hardness may be required above or below standardized values.
4) Refer to catalog and try to adapt your requirements to one of the existing profiles. In the event of minor changes having to be introduced in a given shape, please contact our technicians. This is highly recommended as tooling, in addition to high production costs will demand a long manufacturing period. 5) Check that the selected shape is provided with the corresponding corner (not all of them are). 6) Assess the need for using corner seals, or whether they could be replaced with vulcanized splices at 45º. 7) Please refer to us regarding seals coated with a PTFE film, as not all shapes in our catalog could be coated. 8) Pleases contact our technicians to request the development and testing of non-existing shapes (see our bulletins). 9) Our seals are manufactured by the continuous molding process and, therefore, will feature excellent mechanical and dimensional characteristics, with minimum variations and with smooth surfaces. Additionally, this process enables PTFE coatings to be applied.

FOR PURCHASERS Our seals are made to order only and, therefore, please make sure your orders will be placed with due advance notice to avoid delaying your projects. In order to expedite our reply to your quotation, please mention the code number part or the dimensions of your selected shape, the type of rubber (SBR, CR, or others), the required hardness (50/60, 60/70, or others) and the span size. Seals are always supplied with some excess length to enable them to be adapted during assembly. FOR USERS 1) Upon delivery of our seals to your premises, you will have to remove them from their packaging and have them stored in a sheltered place, away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Ideally, our seals should be spread out for storage but, should this not be possible, make sure the bending radius will be as large as possible less coiling during storage. Nothing should be piled on top of our seals. 2) PTFE-coated seals should be carefully handled, never bending them over in the direction of coating as this will lead to film wrinkling or peeling. (see handling instructions).
3) The use of our metal/rubber washers is recommended, particularly whem installing sluice gate seals. 4) Our technicians will be available to assist you from the design stage up to the maintenance of your sluice gates. If so requested, we will be pleased to visit the power station to provide on-site assistance and to help solving possible problems. WARRANTY Our sponsor was awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification by Bureau Veritas. Our seals are delivered together with a certificate of the tests performed on the composite used. Provided adequate conditions of transportation, handling and storage are complied with, we will guarantee our seals for a period of 3 years counted from the date they are shipped from our facilities.

Splices shall be flawless, with a slight unlevelness being however admissible between joined shapes, due to joint rubber contraction. Tolerance / Dimensional Check Tolerances in the cross section dimensions of section shapes and seal frame front end shall comply with ISO 3302, Class M3 (that superseded DIN 7715, Part 2, Class M3 standard). The PTFE film shall present in the splice area a spacing to each other from 3 to 10 min; in that region, the film could show a slight unlevelness relative to the section shape surface. Customers are advised to refer to PRODEPLASTICOS for the maximum unlevelness values in splices and joined section shapes.
