Overview Choosing the right cooker hood Choosing the right hood is not just about visual appeal... In order to select the most suitable hood for a kitchen, you need to perform some very simple calculations to establish if the hood can extract sufficient volumes in your kitchen. Simply measure, in meters, the length, width and height of the kitchen to calculate the volume. The volume calculation is performed as follows: Length (m) x Width (m) x Height (m) = Volume (m 3 ) Next multiply the volume by 10. The answer will give you the required capacity for the kitchen. When selecting a cooker hood, examine the maximum airflow (measured in m3/h) and if the maximum airflow matches or exceeds the required capcity the hood is suitable for the kitchen. IEC Airflow Rates Please note that all extraction rates and noise levels reported within this brochure are in accordance with IEC standards. The IEC Airflow rate is the 2010 certified testing of Cooker Hoods with 1 meter of ducting and 90 angle bend in accordance with CECED Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct establishes clear rules of measurement common to all cooker hood manuafcturers IEC/EN 61591. Please ensure that any cooker hoods you make look at comply with the code of conduct to make an accurate comparison.
