1) The journey We left Aniche at 6:30 am (French time). It was early but I was excited! We travelled to Calais by coach. The atmosphere was really funny because we played with Mr. Berly. We laughed a lot! Then we crossed the Channel by ferry, the name of the company was P&O ferries. I bought nothing except a Starbucks hot chocolate because it was very expensive! We arrived in Dover at 10:30 am (local time) then we drove to London. It took us about two hours and a half to go there. We were hungry so we had lunch at Leeds Castle, in the park, where it was windy. In the afternoon, we went to the Tower of London, the Crown jewels were fabulous!
2) The host family We met our host family around 8:00 p.m. In the house there was Claire Davis who was a travel agent, her mother, Rita Davis who didn t understand what we said, Kya (a little girl) and André ( like in French) who was Claire s sister s son, so her nephew. There were two other children and one dog which we didn t see! We didn t know if there was a father in this family The address was 44 Cardigan close, Cippenham in Berkshire, near a big city called Slough, there were 122 000 inhabitants. I shared my bedroom with Célia, it was Kya s bedroom because there was a giant Dora painting and the wall was pink! Ahah! André, played with us in the bedroom, it was funny, he was so cute! Andrew
3) Hobbies and habits of our host family TV: The favourite programs of our family are MasterChef, Peppa pig, and different types of sport. They have only five channels: BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5. However, I think that the other family had more channels, maybe because they paid for that. PRESS: Their favourite newspaper is The Daily Mirror, and their favourite magazine is Aheat. SPORT: They love athletics and football. They support Arsenal.
4) Opinion regarding my family. Our host family was very weird! We didn t know how many people lived in this house. Each day, we discovered a new inhabitant of the house! The last day we saw a second daughter! They were really bizarre because we couldn t see them after dinner and they cut electricity during the night to save money maybe. But when they were talking to us they were nice and the bedroom was clean so it was a good family. Now, we have many anecdotes to tell!
5) The food We had the same breakfast every day: cereals, orange juice and milk. We had the choice between different types of cereals. At noon, we ate a sandwich, crisps, an apple or a banana and we drank water. In every evening, we ate chips. On Tuesday, we had a slice of pizza and pasta. Then, on Wednesday, we had a hamburger with nuggets. It was bean and fish on Thursday. We wanted to eat local specialties However the food was tasty. Finally, on Friday, we ate on the ferry: chicken, chips and ice cream! Delicious! Apple crumble - Take 3 apples ; - 600 g of flour ; - 300 g of sugar ; - 2 oz. of butter ; - And cinnamon.
6) The visits and my favourite place. - On Tuesday, we visited the Tower of London. The White Tower - On Wednesday, we went to Oxford and visited Christ Church College. At noon we went to a shopping center where we bought donuts because we didn t have enough with our sandwich. Then we visited Windsor Castle in the afternoon, the Queen was there but we couldn t see her. After the visit, we drank a cream tea in a hotel called Harte and Garter. I had never drunk tea so now I know that I don t like it. On Thursday we had a walk in the City of Westminster, we saw a lot of landmarks of London: Piccadilly Circus, St Paul s Cathedral, the Gherkin, the London Eye
After that, we went to the Cabinet war room, where Churchill stayed during the Blitz. We had lunch at St James Park where we were invaded by ducks and pigeons; they were trying to eat our sandwich! Ahah! In the afternoon we went to Shakespeare Globe Theatre, it was my favourite place because it was not an audio-guided visit. We couldn t take pictures but it was really interesting. We could understand what the guide said because he spoke slowly. Now I know that this Globe Theatre is not the first, it is the third Globe because the first burnt in 1613 and the second was demolished. In the Yard, the people were called penny stinkards because there were beer and sweat smells. The guide was funny, he mimed them! We saw a play: Midsummer night s dream it was weird but funny! Then we went to the shop. Finally, on Friday, we went to the Museum of London and to Covent Garden where I bought a lot of things!
7) Souvenirs, memories & opinion of the trip. I really enjoyed my trip to England! I loved the visits, which were very interesting. We laughed a lot in the family because they were weird! The food was delicious and I would like to go there again! London! I miss you! Souvenirs & memories: I bought 4 nails polish Kiko, a necklace in Covent garden, a card of the Globe Theatre, four pens, 3 t-shirts and a cup of a starbucks hot chocolate. I will always remember when a pigeon smeared my coat Rrrou rrrou Oh! A new target is detected! Ready to shoot?!
