1 HOW DID I SPEND MY SUMMER? (by some pupils in 8D) MY SUMMER In the beginning of the summer we went to Oulujärvi (Oulu lake), Manamansalo camping site. We were there a week, me, my father and my godfather. We went fishing and we got seven perches and two big pikes. Two weeks later, me, my dad, my sisters and brother went to Oulujärvi again. We swam several times a day, ate lots of ice cream and took sunbaths. When we came home and went to mum, we went to Powerpark with our neighbours. We took our cats with us. It was very warm there and our cats went into hiding the sun. We had a great time in there, swimming and in the amusement park. After that we went to our granny s to Nuorgam, Norway. We went there fishing but we didn t get any fish. We went there several times. Me and my sisters went jogging in Norway. At the end of the summer I went to Scout Camp Kilke VI Finnjamboree at Evokeskus in Hämeenlinna. It lasted a week and I had a great time with my brother and mum. (Hanne) Me and my family visited Croatia, Italy, Austria and Slovenia. We travelled by car. In Croatia we swam, ate and lay in the sun. We had a lot of fun. I ve got two dogs, Wilma and Jesse, so I played with them. We ve got a rabbit. He s black and white, and very cute, called Felix. (Annika) In summer 2010, most of the time I slept. Well, that s pretty obvious. But I also visited an amusement park located in Alahärmä, called Powerpark. There were some crazy rides, especially Thunderbird Rollercoaster was unforgettable. After that I stayed at home for a couple of days but soon it was time to get ready again because we were going to Lapland. We travelled by car, so the journey was loooong here from central Finland. In Lapland I fished with my dad. I got a whitefish from a mountain stream. It tasted really good. Lapland was a beautiful place, there were awesome landscapes. In the rest of the summer I just stayed at home and prepared myself for early school mornings (Pauli)

2 This summer was very warm. There were lots of days when it was over 30 degrees. So that s why I spent a lot of time on the beach and swimming. I spent a big part of my summer with athletics. I competed a lot in southern Finland, so we travelled there many times. It s fun to sit ten hours in a bus with your best friends! Even if the summer was warm, there were a few days when there was horrible thunder and rain. And of course I had planned something fun those days I feel that the summer was totally too short. (Katariina) I went to my summer cottage. It is in Ruka, Kuusamo. I went to summer sledging. It s one kilometre long. I swam many times because it was warm and the sun was shining. I also went shopping in Oulu. (Janina) My summer was a really traditional horse summer. I was at the stables almost every day with my friends. I had two Shetland ponies which I took care of for a month. They are mother and daughter, Pimu is six years old and Senni is 25. I went to our summer cottage too. That s where Senni and Pimu live. Me and my soon 18-year-old big brother were at home together (without parents) for the first time. But it didn t work because I went out and didn t answer when my parents tried to call me, so they became worried. But I think that s all, or at least the most important things. Bye! (Anniina) In the beginning of the summer we went to Tornio to pick some raspberries. I spent almost the whole summer at home. I slept long every day. I played with the computer and played football. In the middle of the summer we went to Aavasaksa. We were there two days. We slept in a cottage. There we picked some blueberries and climbed a mountain. On top of the mountain we saw Tornionkylä and Sweden. Rest of the summer I stayed at home. (Nuutti)

3 I travelled in northern Finland, Sweden and Norway. In Sweden me, my mum and my father went fishing. Only my father got fish. In Norway we visited Tromsö. At home I swam and visited my friend. I also went to Kangasala to my cousins. (Mikko) I had a really fun summer this year. Me and my parents visited Stockholm by ship. The weather in Stockholm was really hot and lovely. I also spent my time on the beach with my friends. One of the best things in this summer was that I met some great people and I spent most of my summer with them. Overall, this was a really good summer and it ended too fast. (Linda-Maria) My summer was great! I was with my friends a lot. I played baseball and I was in two baseball camps. The camps are always the best things in the summer. We got many new friends. Me and my good friend, Saana,visited Helsinki. We shared a hotel room. We visited Heureka and Linnanmäki which are good places. I was also in Kiiminki Days with my friends. It was very fun and we were there until midnight. I love my friends because they made my summertime great! (Pinja) I visited Powerpark. I went fishing on many days.. It was very warm in the summer. The summer was bad because it was too warm and the summer went too fast. (Erik) My summer was great. I spent my holiday in Italy. I got new friends from there. I swam, played football and volleyball, and did some crazy things. I also went to my aunt because she lives in Italy. When I came home, I just went to the beach one day. We were outside and then it started to rain. So, we just danced in the rain. When the rain ended, we went swimming with our clothes on. In Italy it was very hot. The highest temperature was +38 degrees. Then I just ate ice cream and ice cubes. (Ella)

4 I spent a lot of time with my hobbies. My hobbies are playing airsoft, ice hockey and scouts. I went to VI Scouts Finnjamboree and hockey trainings. I also spent a lot of time at home. (Niklas) I had a great summer. I spent lots of time with my friends. We did all kinds of things. We swam, laughed and cycled a lot. My family also went to Tallinn, Estonia, and we did a lot of shopping there. The weather was great, the sun was shining and it was very warm. Me and my friends had planned all kind of stuff but we didn t have time to do all of it. We wanted to do crazy things but we didn t have any ideas what to do. But in fact, it was a funny and beautiful summer. (Oona) My summer was funny. I travelled with my cousins and my family. First we went visiting my other cousins in Tornio. Then we went to Levi where my cousins waited for us. We climbed on top of Levi. The next day we went to Kilpisjärvi and we climbed on top of Saana. We went to Norway and we spent our night in Kolari. (Emilia) I had a nice summer. I got a new phone and a scooter. At midsummer I went to our summer cottage with my sisters. I spent a lot of time at home. (Sandra) I spent most of this summer travelling around Finland with a van. I went fishing a few times. I also spent time at home. I was at VI Scouts Finnjamboree in Hämeenlinna. I also went swimming a few times. I played airsoft a lot. (Jiri)
