Danish Open Coastal Rowing FINAL INVITATION with news about Races, Accommodation, Meals and Dinner Party Skovshoved Rowing Club invites you to the first Coastal Rowing Race in Denmark: Danish Open Coastal Rowing 2012 Saturday, September 8 th, Copenhagen August 20 th 2012 Skovshoved Rowing Club has hereby, in cooperation with The Danish Rowing Association (DFfR), the pleasure of inviting Danish and foreign rowers to the first open Danish Championship in Coastal Rowing. The coastal boats are new in Denmark, and DFfR wish to promote rowing in this boat type. This event is the first of its kind, and to ensure that as many people as possible can participate, participants will be able to borrow coastal boats to participate in the event. Furthermore grants are given, to minimize transport costs for clubs providing boats, in order to maximize the amount of participating clubs. We urge all clubs with coastal boats at their disposal to, not only participate in the event, but also lend out their coastal boats to other participants. possible, both seniors and juniors which ensures a successful event and promotes the evolution of coastal rowing. At the event, everyone has the possibility to try the boats, but not during the course of the competition. More information about this subject on the web site. Furthermore, members of different clubs can form a participating team. This ensures that more people can participate. Mixed teams are also possible, but equal number of men and women must be rowing at all times during a mixed race. Team members must wear similar clothing in all team-related races. Junior rowers can participate in the C2X and C4X+ races. There are specific races for Junior A (age 17-18) and Junior B (age 15-16). Junior C rowers (age 14-15) may participate in Junior B races. It is important to make the competition as exciting and invigorating as possible for the audience. The course is shaped as a triangle with two legs close to the coast. At the start, the boats must line up behind the start line waiting for the starters signal (flying start). To reach the finish-line the rowers must get out of their boats at the coastline and run a distance on the beach to the finishline. It will be possible to participate with a Danish 4-oars inrigger in a mix-senior race. The event will be held according to DFfR s competitive rowing rules, FISA s and The Nordic Rowing Association s rules for coastal competitive rowing with modifications due to the special character of the event. Maximum security is ensured by referee boats and safety boats located along the course. Furthermore a National Guards safety vehicle will also be on location, if needed. All contending boats must be pre-approved DFfR coastal- or Danish 4-oars inrigger boats. Facilities at Skovshoved Close to the club you will find parking space for cars and trailers. The club offers you changing rooms and showers for men and women as well as separate saunas. The kitchen has food and beverages for sale during the event. You can sleep in your tent at the interim camp site at the back of the club, of you can sleep indoor. Please see accommodation section above on how to sign up for this. There are also good hotels nearby, if you prefer such comfort. Arrival Information You must register at the regatta office when you arrive. We urge participants to arrive during Friday to get acquainted with the facilities, the beach area and the surroundings in general. If you have special needs related to arrival and departure from e.g. airport or train station, please contact us. Coastal Networking get-together in Skovshoved Rowing Club also in this weekend Skovshoved Rowing Club is a member of the Danish Coastal Network (interest group). Junior C rowers (age 13-14) are allowed to sign up for junior B races. There will not be written out any Master races. Beginner races are for the new rowers of 2012. E: The track is a triangle with a distance of 3 kilometers marked with 3 turning buoys. The race track must be rowed once for 3000m races and twice for 6000m races. The start will be a flying start where team must line up behind the start line waiting for the starters signal. The finish will be a beach landing where one team member must step out of the boat and run a distance on the beach to the finish-line. When this is completed, you can start adding rowers and as the last step sign up the rowers to the race H: An attendance and crew captains meeting will take place on Friday the 7th of September at 21:00 pm at Skovshoved Rowing Club. Due to the character of the event and the specialness of the track, rowers from clubs who are not present at the meeting, will be denied entry in the races. It is mandatory for crew leaders or coxswains from C4X+ and Inr. 4+ teams to attend the meeting. Furthermore, another meeting will be held for all attendees and crew leaders of the event, at Bellevue Beach, Saturday morning the 8th of September at 09:30 am, where there will be further updated information and orientation, considering the start and finish position, track-conditions and safety issues, if the weather requires it. I: There will not be any pre-races, but it might be necessary to split the races into heats, if the numbers of participants or rowboats exceed the numbers for that particular class and in order to maintain safety at an acceptable level. J: The will be given coastal trophies, and medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each class. We will do our best to get sponsor presents for all participants as a memoir of this first coastal event in DFfR context.
