Every penny you raise will help us to provide vital information and support for young adults affected by cancer to enable them to thrive through and beyond the challenges of a journey that doesn t stop after treatment. We ve put together these top tips to help you on your way along with some great ideas if you re looking for some inspiration and we hope that as well as raising money for Trekstock you ll have loads of fun at the same time! GETTING STARTED KEEP IT SIMPLE A successful fundraiser does not have to be complicated and take up lots of your time. Stick to what you know and enjoy! If you need some ideas then check out the Inspiration section in this pack TELL US ABOUT IT Don t forget to let us know what you re up to, email hello@trekstock.com with your name, address, event and date, so we can stay in touch and thank you! FUNDRAISE ONLINE For a hassle free way of collecting your money raised. Just set up an online fundraising page at Virgin Money Giving - it s an easy way for people to donate and a great way to keep track of donations. COLLECT DONATIONS OFFLINE Simply print out our offline sponsorship form included at the end of this pack and ask donors to complete the details. MAKE YOU GIFT EVEN BIGGER! For every 1 donated, we can claim an extra 25p at no additional cost to you or the donor if you re a UK tax payer. Just ask donors to add Gift Aid to their donation by ticking the correct box on either your sponsorship form or your online page and we do the rest.

EASY WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR EVENT WORD OF MOUTH Tell everyone; friends, family and colleagues about your ever as soon as you can. Don t forgery to tell them what you are raising money for and why you are doing it so that can really support you. All the information about Trekstock and the work we do can be found on our website www.trekstock.com. SOCIAL MEDIA Using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and blogs is another great way to let people know what you re doing. You can share links to your online fundraising page so people know exactly where to go to make a donation and by setting up an event on Facebook you can keep track of who will be supporting you. Don t forget to include @trekstock in your tweets and Instagram posts too so that we can show our support for your brilliant efforts. POSTERS Download our poster template included in this pack and personalise it as you wish to include the details abut your event and some eye-catching imagery - the mrs creative the better! Put this up around your school, work, local shops or any other visible locations you can think of, but remember to ask permission first. PRESS RELEASE Talk to your local newspapers or any other media outlets you may have connections with. We can provide you with a press release via hello@trekstock.com

QUICK WINS CAR WASH - ask friends, family, neighbours and colleagues if you can wash their car for a small donation DRESS DOWN DAY - ask your teacher or boss if you can organise a dress down day at school or work. For a 1 donation people can wear what they wish Simple. BAKE SALE -These are great fun and can raise lots of money - why not start with our brilliant beetroot brownies recipe idea here. I have been making friendship bracelets to fundraise which has gone really well and now lots of my friends know about Trekstock and the amazing work they do, I ve never seen a charity that does what Trekstock do, it s inspired me, and lots of people around me. Kate, Middlesborough GET SPONSORED TO have your legs waxed, shave your head, dye your hair, skydive, run, cycle - the list goes on. Think of something that your friends and family would be willing to pay to see you accomplish. DE-CLUTTER FOR MONEY This is the perfect excuse yo get rid of any unwanted items lying around your house. Sell them on Ebay, set up a yard sale or hod a stall at your local car boot. LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE? Of you ve got time to give up an evening or afternoon then you might find something that interests you here.. 5 ASIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT Rally your friends, family and colleagues and each team pays to play CHRISTMAS CARDS Design your own Christmas cards and sell them to family, friends, teachers and colleagues. Don t forget to tell them that all the money raised goes to charity. SWAP TIL YOU DROP If you re bored of all your clothes then organise a shwop with your friends. Invite people round and as them to bring at least 1 item of clothing to swap for something else. For each swap, ask for a donation of 2. After all, they are getting a brand new outfit!

IF YOU RE FEELING REALLY AMBITIOUS You may fancy a real fundraising challenge but do remember that some of these ideas could take a lot of time to organise so ask friends and family to help you our and don t forget to stick to what you know. ORGANISE A BALL What a great excuse to get dressed up and raise money for charity! TALENT SHOW Organise your very own X Factor at work, school or just with your friends. Ask people for a small donation to come and watch

HOW YOUR MONEY CAN HELP SUPPORT YOUNG ADULTS AFFECTED BY CANCER 10 could could ease the loneliness of cancer by paying for transport to enable a young adult to attend one of our regular meet-ups 20 could provide vital information leaflets into 5 hospitals to support young adults affected by cancer 50 could give a young adult professional support to engage in exercise that can reduce the physical and emotional impact of cancer 100 would help to tackle the limited support available to young adults affected by cancer by paying for new chapters of information on our digital hub THRIVE

PAYING IN YOUR DONATION Send in any offline funds after each fundraising activity to save you lots of paperwork at the end of the trek ONLINE FUNDRAISING If you have set up a page with Virgin Money Giving or Just Giving, you money will be automatically forwarded to us. KEEP IT SAFE AND LEGAL When planning any activity there will be legal and safety issues. Trekstock cannot be held responsible for any losses, damages or injuries sustained whilst fundraising. It is your responsibility to ensure your event is safe and complies with relevant authorities. Make sure you obtain and licenses you may require. If your event involves the public you will need to have Public Liability insurance - check with you venue first. Some events may require first aid provision If you are selling or supplying food then please sure care is taken when handling, store and preparing food. INSURANCE If your event involves the public, you will need to have Public Liability insurance. Always check with the venue first as they may already have insurance that covers your event. FIRST AID Some events may require first aid provision, depending on the size and type of event. If you are not sure, check with your local council. FOOD If you are selling or supplying food at your event then please ensure that is taken when handling, storing a d preparing food. EVENTS If you re holding a fundraiser at home, work, school or at a public venue, then it is extremely important that you always keep health and safety in mind. Be as organised as possible to minimise the risk of loss, damage or injury.
