OVERVIEW Cmprehensive Guidance & Cunseling Prgram Prgram Delivery The Suth Brunswick Bard f Educatin requires that a planned prgram f guidance and cunseling be an integral part f the educatinal prgram f the schls t assist pupils in making and implementing infrmed educatinal and ccupatinal chices including academic, career, and persnal/scial develpment. As such, the Bard emplyees certified staff members at each level f the rganizatin t prvide a wide-range f cunseling and guidance services based upn student need. Cunselrs assist students in persnal grwth thrugh develpment f educatinal planning, self awareness, cllectin, interpretatin and utilizatin f data, setting f gals, decisin-making, implementatin f career plans and evaluatin f persnal and career gals. The Guidance and Cunseling Prgram seeks t supprt the Bard f Educatin's Missin Statement and district gals. Belw is the prgram delivery mdel that is in place in the Suth Brunswick Schl District. Elementary Schl The Elementary Schl Cunselr prvides schl services designed t prmte student success in academics and life skills. These services include facilitating interventin and referral fr services, crdinating a unified character educatin prgram, delivering direct instructin f the Health Educatin curriculum, serving as, r supprting, the schl s Harassment, Intimidatin, and Bullying (HIB) Specialist, and prviding supprt t parents and staff, as well as individual students. Middle Schl Each middle schl is served by tw schl cunselrs. Cunselrs at the middle schl level take lead rles in teaching students abut career educatin and the 16 career clusters f the States Career Clusters Initiative. They teach students anti-bullying lessns and lessns abut sexual harassment. The cunselrs at this level help students make the transitin frm elementary schl t middle schl and assist them with their curse selectin fr the high schl.
