We have 3 accessible parking spaces available at the venue which are marked with a sign and yellow markings. Please note there is a small kerb at these spaces. There is a direct pathway from these spaces. Accessible Parking Spaces From either car park access to the house is via tarmac paths and then either some stairs (4 double steps) or slope to front door. Getting here by bus There are buses that run from the city centre to Paisley Road West, alighting at the Bus Stop at Helen Street Police Station is the most convenient for access to Bellahouston Park/House for an Art Lover. Most buses in the city centre have wheelchair and pram access more information can be found from the relevant bus operator s website (www.firstgroup.com and www.mcgillsbuses.co.uk). When alighting at the bus stop there is a raised kerb for ramped exit from the bus. To gain access to the park you should enter through the gates pictured above the smallest gate is 127cm wide, the larger gate has a kerb. There is then a short walk from these gates through the park to the house this takes approximately 5 to 8 minutes. The pathway and pavements are flat and there are sign posts in the park to direct visitors. The pathway will direct you through the Portico (left) and in front of the house and then you have access to both the ramped and stairway entrance as detailed previously. Getting here by train Dumbreck Train Station is the closest railway station to the House. The train line is the Paisley Canal line. The train from the City Centre leaves Glasgow Central Station at 12 minutes past the hour and 42 minutes past the hour. Dumbreck Train Station is the first stop on the line from Glasgow. If coming from Paisley the train leaves Paisley Canal Station at 5 minutes past the hour and 35 minutes past the hour. Dumbreck Train Station is the second last stop on the line. For more information on train times and station information please check https://www.scotrail.co.uk/. Dumbreck Train Station entrance and exit is via a ramp (See Picture Below). When leaving the Station the house is located approximately 15-20 minutes walk away. From Dumbreck station, turn right and continue to the end of Nithsdale Road, again turn right and continue along Dumbreck Road until you reach the entrance to Bellahouston Park on your left. (Marked Glasgow Ski Centre/House for an Art Lover). Getting here by subway The closest Subway station to the House is Ibrox Subway Station. This stop is available from all the other points on the subway route. More information on timings and Subway Station details can be found at http://www.spt.co.uk/subway/maps-stations/. Once you arrive at Ibrox Subway the house is located approximately 15 minutes away by foot. Leaving Ibrox station, turn right and continue to the end of Copland Road, then turn right along Paisley Road West until you reach the flyover which you should cross. Visiting the Art Lover s Café and Art Lover s Shop Our café and shop are open 7 days a week from 10am 5pm (last food orders are at 4pm). Access to our shop and café is through the Front Door (signposted café/shop entrance from the car parks). The door is 74cm wide with a small lip. Within the shop all central units are on wheels so can be easily moved if further assess space is required. The shop counter is 100cm high. We ensure a notepad, pencil and magnifying glass is at all our desk areas. The shop lighting is bright and can be adjusted if needed. The flooring throughout the shop and café is flat, vinyl floor tiles in a cream/stone effect colour. The fittings of the shop are in white there is a colour contrast between the fittings and flooring. House for an Art Lover Access Statement June 2015 6

The café counter at the entrance is 120cm high Within the café all the tables and chairs are moveable if further access space is required. The café tables are 76cm high and all café chairs have arms, however we have various chairs in the building and one without arms can be requested if needed. We can provide cushions for chairs. The lighting in the café is adjustable generally we keep the lighting a little softer in the café. There is natural lighting at the tables on the window side. Within the café we have music playing at a very low level, however it can be turned off completely if required. We have a smaller Lounge Room towards the back of the café, which is normally quieter than the main Café. Tables can be requested for this area. In the Art Lover s Café we are able to cater for most dietary requirements but do ask that customers let us know at the time of booking, if possible, so we can ensure we have the correct ingredients organised for your visit. We have dietary information on all our menus. We are happy to provide the following for café customers: Smaller Portions of meals Children s Cutlery High chairs and Large Font Menu. Visiting the Mackintosh Suite (Visitor Attraction) In the winter months access to the visitor attraction is via our shop entrance (detailed on page 6). To gain access to the 1 st Floor where the Visitor Attraction is located we have a lift or stairs. There are 15 quite steep steps, with a hand rail on one side Our lift is 107cm by 138cm and has a door width of 81cm. In the summer months access to the visitor attraction is via our main entrance (signposted from both car parks). This door is 110cm wide and has a small lip however when this entrance is open we place a temporary metal ramp out to allow easier access. The pathway leading to the house is tiled and has some small gaps between each tile. There is a bell at the front door that can be rung if you require any assistance. Main Entrance to Mackintosh Suite open during Summer Months There is a member of staff sitting at the desk as you enter and can help with opening doors etc. Once you come in the main door there are 2 sets of double doors before you reach the welcome desk. Both doors measure 120cm wide and have a small downwards lip. The flooring in the entrance way (and throughout the house) is carpet with wooden flooring around the edges. The carpets are not too thick. The lighting as you enter is quite bright due to the natural light. House for an Art Lover Access Statement June 2015 8

You will now be in The Main Hall and our team member will be delighted to welcome you at our welcome desk. The desk is 110cm in height but staff are able to move in front of this desk when required. There is some background music playing on this floor this can be adjusted or turned off by the staff at the welcome desk. After paying your entrance fee ( 4.50 for adults, 3.00 for concessions and children and carers are FREE) you will be provided with an audio handset guide and map of the house. The guide has a volume control so the sound may be adjusted. The audio guide is available in 4 languages (English, French, German and Spanish) and takes around 45 minutes to complete the tour. You are free to visit the rooms at your own pace and in any order, there is plenty of seating available You re are able to visit the Main Hall, Dining Room, Music Room, Oval Room, Margaret McDonald Room and 2 nd Floor Viewing Balcony Access to the Dining Room is through sliding doors that are normally open to a width of 125cm but can slide open fully if required. The lighting in the Main Hall and Dining Room is bright due to the natural light from the large windows all other lighting is adjustable. House for an Art Lover Access Statement June 2015 9

Access to the Music Room is though one of two sets of doors, both measuring 118cm in width. There is a balcony which is accessed from 6 patio doors in the Music Room. We will normally leave a set of doors open, weather permitting. There is a 20cm step onto pebbles to access the balcony area. The balcony is tiled with spacing between tiles. The lighting in the Music Room and Oval Room is bright throughout. Access to The Oval Room is via a door 70cm in width. Access to The Margaret MacDonald Room is via a 74cm door. This room also contains stools for guests use. There is a TV with a DVD playing the volume can be adjusted by asking the member of staff. There is a blind in this room which can come down to make viewing easier. The floor in the Margaret MacDonald Room is vinyl tile. There is a viewing gallery located above the main visitor attraction rooms. This can be accessed via our lift and 2 sets of double doors (both measuring 110cm wide) or via 27 steps. There is a central landing with some information boards and a model of the house this landing is only accessible via the steps. The steps have a hand rail to the right hand side. The viewing gallery contains computers which have volume control. The computer desks are 70cm high and the seats are height adjustable. House for an Art Lover Access Statement June 2015 10

Toilet Facilities There are ladies and gents toilets situated on all levels of the House with the narrowest door measuring 66cm in width. There are two accessible toilets within the House. One on the ground floor and one on the 3 rd floor. Both accessible toilets can be accessed using our lift (Our lift is 107cm by 138cm and has a door width of 81cm) or stairs. The accessible toilet on the ground floor has door width of 86cm. It contains 5 white handrails (1 on the door), an emergency pull cord, nappy changing facilities and a lowered sink. The toilet is 43cm high. The accessible toilet on the 3rd floor has door width of 88cm. It contains 5 white handrails (1 on the door) and a lowered sink. The toilet is 43cm high. Additional Information Future plans: In the future we would like to add more accessible car parking bays and remove the small kerb completely. Our hearing loop will be reviewed in 2015. We would like to expand the selection of tours available, i.e. more languages and a sign language tour. The stone pathway in front of the house will be changed to slabbing to make it easier to walk on and for prams and wheelchairs. Any other future plans or updates will be added to this document.
