What has FPMA Done Lately? Passing industry-supported fertilizer ordinances in local governments and maintaining a matrix of all regulations on the FPMA website (www.flpma.org, Resources tab). Meeting with IFAS and DEP officials to provide business-friendly, no-cost DVD-based GIBMP training required by the January 1 st, 2014 deadline required by statute. Representing industry professionals with DACS, the Pest Control Enforcement Advisory Council, the IFAS Regional Advisory Council, the Florida legislature (with a professional lobbyist) and the US Congress and federal agencies (through joint membership with the National Pest Management Association). Working with other associations that represent PMP client groups to create FFP bid standards to increase the market share for professional pest services. Creating training manual and training for OSHA Global Harmonization System SDS. Spearheading Conehead Termite eradication effort in Broward County, including seeking state and federal funding.
What has FPMA Done Lately? Acting as a Founding Board Member of the Environmental Research & Education Fund to fund industry research and public education on the environmental value of maintained urban landscapes. Maintaining Preferred Providers that save money for important services, such as free legal consultation, discounts on uniform services and products, payment processing and debt collection, fuel costs, member access to www.pestslist.com marketplace for jobs, equipment and vehicles. Maintaining www.flpma.org with a member search to help connect consumers with FPMA members and build businesses, and provide exclusive access to TechPro: convenient, inexpensive and documented technician training through the University of Florida. Appearing in media stories on TV, newspapers and radio to present a positive industry image and counter misinformation of activists Launching Leadership FPMA, a one-year curriculum to develop new leaders by exposing them to all aspects of the industry and to key FPMA events; it was developed by Wedgworth Leadership Institute graduates Marcie Dowling and Sean Brantley.
