This little unit is intended to be an aid in setting up a science notebook or journal with kids. It includes A science song Anchor chart idea Science notebook cover Thinking maps Science mini posters Scientific Method mini posters I am a scientist pages Simply print off, (some are available in both color and black and white) punch holes and place into a folder or binder with fasteners. I have also included a set of vocabulary cards either for display in your science center, or have kids collect them in a Science Saver, a simple envelope or on a ring for handy, consistent review opportunities.

The next few pages include science vocabulary cards. The kids can cut them apart, draw a little picture to show what they know, and keep them in the Science Saver (directions follow!). Or punch a hole and put them on a ring. Teachers can also post words in their science centers, along with pictures to make it interactive.

Science Saver The next couple of pages show pictures of the steps to take in order to make a Science Saver. You will start with a simple pocket folder (no fasteners). Trim off the top leaving a curved edge. Cut a slit in the pocket. Fold the curved edge over so it will fit into the slit. Add the labels. You ca use this to store vocabulary cards and other treasures throughout the year!
