PowerFlex 755 firmware Nuclear Export Compliance PUBLIC PUBLIC - 5058-CO900G
9 PowerFlex 750 Series Drives Firmware Overview On August 7, 2014 the United States Department of Commerce changed the export regulations for variable frequency drives as a result of an updated guideline from the Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG). Participating Governments to the NSG: ARGENTINA, AUSTRALIA, AUSTRIA, BELARUS, BELGIUM, BRAZIL, BULGARIA, CANADA, CHINA, CROATIA, CYPRUS, CZECH REPUBLIC, DENMARK, ESTONIA, FINLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, HUNGARY, ICELAND, IRELAND, ITALY, JAPAN, KAZAKHSTAN, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, LATVIA, LITHUANIA, LUXEMBOURG, MALTA, MEXICO, NETHERLANDS, NEW ZEALAND, NORWAY, POLAND, PORTUGAL, ROMANIA, RUSSIAN FEDERATION, SERBIA, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SOUTH AFRICA, SPAIN, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND, TURKEY, UKRAINE, UNITED KINGDOM, and UNITED STATES The export compliance date for Rockwell Automation in the United States is February 9, 2015
10 PowerFlex 750 Series Drives Firmware Overview Issue: The Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG) has introduced a new guideline that requires frequency changing devices that are usable as variable/fixed frequency motor drives having all the characteristics list below to be heavily regulated. Multiphase output providing a power of 40 VA or greater Operating at a frequency of 600Hz or more Frequency control better (less) than 0.2% Solution: Insert an internal limit within the drive firmware that limits the max frequency to 590Hz, leaving the database value at 650Hz Will not change the series designator of the product All tools and visual screens would show a max limit of 650Hz, but the drive would not accept a value greater than 590Hz Requires the implementation of the Secure Flash function

PowerFlex 520 Firmware V 5.01 PUBLIC PUBLIC - 5058-CO900G
15 PF523 v3 Firmware Release Under development, schedule for July 2016 AFC Adding 1 Analog Output functionality (Same I/O count) Other Enhancements Anomalies resolution V3 release would requires series change Due to adding of 1AO > change of functionality Would requires different SAP P/N. No change in Drives Catalog numbers, List prices, footprint Adding of 1AO in PF523 would strengthen our position in the entry level space & grow market share

17 PF523 v3 Firmware Release
PF525 v5 Firmware Release AFC on 26 April 2016 Introduced Permanent Magnet Motor Control Support for both interior mount and surface mount permanent magnet motors ipm supports both open and closed loop control spm supports open loop control only Other Enhancements Anomalies resolution Available with firmware version 5 or higher no new hardware will be required. Firmware can be downloaded from Product Compatibility and Download Center (PCDC) Updated PF520-Series AC Drives User Manual is now available on the Literature Library Sales Enabler on 8 th May 2016 AFC on 26 April 2016 PM motor control would allow us to penetrate new market space & grow market share PUBLIC 18
19 PowerFlex 525-Series AC Drive Motor Control: Permanent Magnet Permanent magnet motor control Supports both interior mount and surface mount permanent magnet motors ipm supports both open and closed loop control** spm supports open loop control only ** Close loop control is for 10HP ipm motor and below. Already able to cater for most application ratings Availability: v5 firmware revision no new hardware required. Controlflash Download from PCDC accompanied by a Release Note
20 Permanent Magnet Motor PF525 PM motor Startup Method Update Motor Control: PM Motor Added Basically 2 method to tune the PM motor: 1) PF525 Startup Wizard ** 2) Conventional manual keypad entry from the front HIM ** We are working with the CCW software developers to further improve the wizard for PM tuning After Autotune: PF525 additional setup for PM Motor Open loop, adjust some parameters if you encounter a reverse startup (when start cmd is given, motor will move momentarily in the reverse direction of the desired actual direction). 2-3 parameters to adjust. You can ignore this if no reverse is seen and your autotune of an open loop PM motor is completed! Closed loop, you NEED to perform a simple alignment procedures before it starts a normal run. Instruction has been documented how to perform the above in the appendix of the User Manual
