The company operates a zero defect policy through defect prevention and pursues a programme of continuous improvement in products, processes and services in order to achieve and anticipate customer s needs. In order to achieve this central objective, Bloxwich Transport & Container Products Ltd, will operate a quality control system which exceeds the requirements of ISO 9002 as well as achieving greater customer quality standards. The dimensions stated within this catalogue are for general guidance only. If precise dimensions are required it will be necessary to obtain an up to date engineering print which will be issued on request. All products are supplied by Bloxwich Transport & Container Products Ltd on the terms of its written conditions of sale which appear on the back of its quotations and invoices. Self Colour Parts supplied in self colour are as per the original material and they are usually supplied in such a condition for welding in place. Suitable corrosion protection methods are required. Zinc Plate Finish Our electro zinc plate finish is to BS.1706:Fe/Zn 8 c1a and is intended to protect during normal storage and transit. It is not suitable as an in service protection. We recommend that all our zinc plated products undergo further treatment (painting etc.) to provide the required level of corrosion resistance. Should you wish to paint any galvanised products please contact your paint supplier to ensure that the correct surface preparation and paint products are used. Stainless Steel Stainless steel used is AISI 304. To further enhance our stainless steel products we barrel polish all brackets, castings and forgings etc. Pickling and passivating is also carried out to ensure our stainless components not only look good but have the best resistance to corrosion possible. Care should be taken during further assembly or manufacture in order not to contaminate stainless products with mild steel particles e.g. no grinding or welding nearby. Ideally also avoid the use of any tools that may have been used on mild steel parts. Should you wish to paint any stainless steel products please contact your paint supplier to ensure that the correct surface preparation and paint products are used. Fastening Where fasteners are used we recommend the use of the same material/finish as the Bloxwich components or assemblies and if applicable the same painting etc. to give the best corrosion protection. All fasteners should be suitable for the intended application and should be torqued to the manufacturers recommended values. Welding Ensure the correct filler materials are used for the parent metals being welded; if in doubt please contact the welding machine manufacturer for advice. Galvanised Finish Galvanising is to BSEN ISO 1461 (BS 729: 1971). Welding of galvanised and zinc plated parts releases fumes which are hazardous to health unless proper protective equipment and adequate extraction is used. 4 5

Door Gear - Mild Steel Door Locking Mechanisms The choice of Door Locking Mechanism model depends on end frame and door design, and the test requirements for the end wall and racking loads. We will be pleased to give detailed advice, but the following points should be considered. Tube diameters of Ø22mm, Ø27mm and Ø34mm are available Material, mild steel or stainless steel Finish, self colour, zinc plated or galvanised Unbushed or bushed (bushed mechanisms ensure a smooth operating action) Weld on or bolt on brackets (bolt-on brackets can be fitted after final painting of the doors) Bolt on brackets, if repairs are necessary, removal or replacement is simple The resistance to racking loads of bolt-on brackets depends on the bracket length and number of fixing holes Short length weld-on brackets give better resistance to racking loads than short bolt-on brackets Steel doors can be fitted with weld on or bolt on brackets. Ply/metal or GRP doors can only be fitted with bolt on brackets If racking forces are high, a combination of locking mechanisms with long and short brackets can be used Short brackets are fitted to the locking mechanism near the hinged side of the door and long brackets are used nearest the centre of the door The type of door seal fitted can dictate the required bracket type Cam and keeper widths Standard or modified cams (see illustration) Type of door handles required (see illustration) All locking mechanisms shown in this catalogue are supplied with standard handles and flush fitting keepers as standard, but can also be supplied in many other conditions to meet the demands of our customers. They can be supplied as loose parts (without tube) or fully welded ready for immediate fitting. If fully welded locking mechanisms are required, please contact us for further details and a lock rod chart as this will ensure your order is processed to your precise requirements. Hinges & Brackets Hinges & Brackets The choice of hinges, brackets and associated parts also depends on end frame and door design, and the test requirements for end wall and racking loads. We will be pleased to give detailed advice, but the following points should be considered. Forged steel door hinges can usually only be welded to the doors Finish, self colour, zinc plated or galvanised are available Nylon ( A ) or phosphor bronze ( C ) bushes are available Bolt-on brackets and hinges can be fitted after final painting If repairs are necessary, removal or replacement of bolt-on brackets and hinges is simple Flat base forged steel door hinges are not recommended for use on offshore containers Customer logos are available subject to minimum order quantities.
