The services / deliverables of R & D and business process flow is protected by the mechanism of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) wherever applicable. The projects undertaken fall within the purview of R & D areas of the centre. In-house Projects In-house R & D Projects can be broadly classified under two main categories namely: Major Lab Project (MLP) The scope of MLP is the thrust areas identified for the Lab. Other Lab Project (OLP) - Projects other than thrust areas identified under MLP, can be classified as OLP. A. SUPRA & Network Projects These Network projects are carried out by a group of Laboratories under the overall co-ordination and guidance of the respective CSIR Task Forces. The Task Force has the overall responsibility to formulate the detailed Network investment proposal which will be reviewed by the appropriate authority like Governing Board of CSIR etc., and monitored by the review and monitoring committee set up by CSIR. B. NMITLI Projects New Millennium Indian Technology Leadership Initiative (NMITLI) is a technology-funding project coordinated by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Its aim is to make India world leaders in select areas of technology. These projects are reviewed and monitored by the review and monitoring committee set up by CSIR. Externally Funded Projects Contract Research Contract Research shall comprise all R & D undertaken through specific contractual arrangement agreed upon for the purpose. The projects to be undertaken should fall within the purview of approved research areas of the Centre. Sponsored Projects Projects wholly funded by the client having specified R & D objectives, and well defined expected project output/results, and deliverables, generally culminating in generation of intellectual property. Collaborative Projects (National & International) Projects partially funded by the client and supplemented by provision of inputs such as, Expert manpower, production / fabrication of product for testing /trials, infrastructure facilities etc. Grant-in-Aid Projects Projects involving Grant by way of financial inputs either in full or in part, assistance in kind. For example, equipment, training etc., by the client to supplement the efforts of the centre in the ongoing or new R &D projects or for creating new capabilities / facilities. Consultancy projects Consultancy services shall comprise scientific, technical, engineering or other professional advice/assistance based on available knowledge or expertise of the centre. Consultancy shall not normally envisage generation of Intellectual Property.
Technical Services Technical services are meant to render assistance to the clients based on available knowledge, expertise, skills and facilities of the center. Technical services may include Testing & Analysis, training, Technical assistance of any advisory nature, fabrication / production of special products, repair and maintenance, supply of information/database.
