About Werft22 2

Werft22 streaming experience since 1998 Werft22 was founded in 1991 as the association Kunstdesign Werft22, then becoming Ideen Werft22 GmbH in 1997, and finally Werft22 AG in 2003. The domain nanoo.tv and the brands Sdreamland Services, Content Unlimited and nanoo.tv are the property of Werft22. Werft22 developed the first ever online video recorder in 1998. It was used professionally under the name SdreamBox at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002, where Swiss public TV used it for television broadcasts. The advancement, Sdreamland Services, won the Swiss Technology Award in 2003 and was presented at the world's largest ICT trade fair, the CeBIT in Hanover. The solution was then licensed by the world's largest aircraft manufacturer. Werft22 designed Content Unlimited, an architecture and portfolio of software components, at the Technopark Aargau. Content Unlimited proves its worth on a daily basis in news production for Swiss public TV and is the technology behind nanoo.tv. Legal usage of nanoo.tv is based on the "Common Tariffs" (Gemeinsame Tarife). The laborious copyright negotiations for nanoo.tv began in 2007 and were finally completed successfully in January 2012. The experimental nanoo.tv, which began in 2006 in the Swiss university sector, was used as proof of concept during the copyright negotiations. Werft22 was awarded the European Seal of e-excellence for the combination of high technology and copyright in 2010. Together with industry partners, Werft22 has been running the spin-off to the experimental nanoo.tv since 2011. nanoo.tv is a self-supporting operation for all education levels. 3

We proudly present: nanoo.tv (1/2) nanoo.tv is the leading TV and film portal within the Swiss educational market (nanoo.tv EDU) and supplies advanced cloud television services for corporate customers. (nanoo.tv PRO). Technically speaking, nanoo.tv is a hybrid cloud combining Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) to deliver Content as a Service. Within an exhaustingly short time nanoo.tv EDU became market leader in the Swiss educational market, delivering cloud TV services to schools and universities. The nanoo.tv EDU portal enables teachers and students to acquire, record, edit and share TV and radio content in complete fulfilment with government copyright regulations. Within the nanoo.tv cloud content is allocated to the different curriculums and TV and film content can be used instantly within the format of educational systems and can be shared and used across institutions of all grades. The rapid market acceptance of nanoo.tv is no doubt a mixture of the success of many years of negotiation with TV and film copyright owners and the growing demand within the educational market community for access to reliable resources both in terms of content suitable for tuition and in legal terms providing sustainable available content from the internet. 8

We proudly present: nanoo.tv (2/2) In Switzerland, the copyright regulations are governed by the law and remuneration is negotiated with the collective rights management organisations, which themselves are supervised by the Swiss government. This model of copyright remuneration appears to be unique within Europe and probably even worldwide. Today nanoo.tv is worldwide proof of concept for why the Swiss copyright & remuneration model leads directly to market success. To expand the business model of nanoo.tv beyond collective rights management (CoRM), Werft22 has developed a sophisticated VOD application using high-security mechanisms know from the e-banking sector. The core of the nanoo.tv VOD solutions beyond CoRM is the identity of the user. Each user authenticates himself with a token, e.g. a SmartCard or a Near Field Communication Device. The prototype of the beyond CoRM solution has been presented in August 2012 to the Swiss collective rights management organisations for approval and a nationwide pilot project is scheduled for 2012 2013. Obviously nanoo.tv s beyond CoRM approach allows the nanoo.tv business model to expand instantly to European countries outside Switzerland. Therefore Werft22 is negotiating with investors to expand nanoo.tv services to European countries. The business plan outlines the next steps in market expansion to France, Germany, Austria and Italy. Break even is expected within 3 years. 9

nanoo.tv EDU Swiss market leader video platform for education The web-based platform nanoo.tv was specially developed for the use of film and TV programmes in schools and other educational institutions. nanoo.tv enables registered users to record, edit, and systematically archive all broadcast films and TV programmes, and to use these later in class. Programming is child's play: Content is recorded with just a few clicks in the TV Programme list. nanoo.tv also allows you to record programmes that have already been broadcast! You used to have to wait for a repeat, but nanoo.tv makes that a thing of the past. You can just set the programme to record the next day, rather than waiting for any repeats. Educational institutions can use nanoo.tv to create an individual video collection. Thanks to school-specific registration, users at the same institution can contribute jointly to a school video archive, but can also find the videos they want in other archives. nanoo.tv is suitable for all state and private educational institutions from primary schools to universities. 11

nanoo.tv EDU Main features provided Online video recorder for TV programmes on channels that are available in Switzerland Integrated tool for editing and cutting videos Joint creation of school and/or student society archives Video search in existing archives Personal storage folder Use of films and TV programmes available to download and watch offline as well Upload function for your own teaching materials Additional information on films and TV programmes Rating function for films and programmes Links with e-learning tools Podcast subscriptions for regular radio programmes 12

nanoo.tv EDU How it works (1/5) You can select what you want to record by clicking on the video of your choice in the TV Programme list. Programmes are available from up to seven days ago, but also two weeks in advance with applicable declarations. All content that a teacher programs to record will appear in the personal My Programmes list. It is easy to edit videos here with just a few clicks. 13

nanoo.tv EDU How it works (2/5) This illustration shows three sections highlighted in red on the timeline underneath the picture. These sequences have been selected by clicking with the mouse and are now being collated into one video sequence. You then choose the video title, identify suitable keywords and decide what theme the video should be filed under in the archive. Any worksheets the teacher has created can also be uploaded. 14

nanoo.tv EDU How it works (3/5) The Latest list stores programmes that have been recorded automatically programmes like 10 vor 10, Rundschau, Kassensturz and other significant general education shows. This means that teachers never need to set these programmes to record. This list also includes podcasts of radio programmes relating to educational topics. Podcasts are ideal for the general educational subject of language and communication. The programmes are stored in the Latest list for a defined period of time programmes broadcast daily for ten days, weekly programmes for a month. If you will want to use a programme after this period, then you can click to copy it to My Programmes, where it will be stored permanently. The archive can be used for permanent archiving. 15

nanoo.tv EDU How it works (4/5) Click on the picture to start playback. Clicking on the title brings up additional video information. A brief synopsis appears if you hover the cursor over the question mark. It comes from the TV magazine epg (electronic programme guide) and can or should be altered by the teacher, especially after editing. The language, broadcast year and length of the video are also listed. The rating system is an extremely practical tool. Ratings are stored because teachers have a personal login. Personal ratings are shown with green stars. This enables teachers to prepare extremely efficiently, because they know which videos they want to reuse. A red bar beneath the stars shows the average of all ratings for this video. This draws attention to videos that other teachers have found valuable. You will see three specific teaching aids in the previous example immediately to the right of the stars: a worksheet, an answer sheet and a sheet with the timeline immediate, educational added value for all teachers. All formats are possible (.doc,.pdf,.xls). 16

nanoo.tv EDU How it works (5/5) All videos are stored in the archive in the previously defined structure. 17

nanoo.tv SmartCard Security and advanced user identification solution To address the demand from educational institutions to develop and maintain digital libraries containing any kind of movie content, Werft22 envisions with nanoo.tv a combination of legal and technical components to fulfill the demand and to overcome the gap between regulations already in force and the reality of digital libraries. In late summer 2011 Werft22 started to collaborate with a company globally leading Digital Right Management (DRM). A project has been set up and the Proof of Concept (PoC) is ready to demonstrate how any kind of digital content would be protected by encryption. Encrypted content will be decrypted and played by nanoo.tv software components. The PoC demonstrates methods of legal use of copyright protected content outside the Joint tariffs 12 and 9 III. Common to any use of content within nanoo.tv is the requirement to authenticate the user. The nanoo.tv SmartCard is the vehicle to provide this requirement reliable and on base of a trusted and market proofed technology. 18

The nanoo.tv lead portal Professional b2b sales force infrastructure Dynamic and efficiency are part of the nanoo.tv sales philosophy. The nanoo.tv LEAD PORTAL is designed to accelerate the new business increase by providing automated proposals to customers and supporting outbound call center agents and sales partners on base of one holistic sales platform. 19
