PASO ROBLES Paso Robles sits midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, 25 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, in the heart of California s famed Central Coast. Known for its warm days and cools nights, Paso Robles is also recognized for its many microclimates and the diversity of its soils, which range from calcareous, to decomposed granite, to loamy clay. This extensive range in soils and temperatures allows for an unusual range of expressions among the different grape varieties grown here. Paso Robles is home to nearly 30,000 acres of planted vineyards and is one of the largest and most distinct growing regions in California. It continues to gain notoriety and acclaim for its vineyards and award winning wines.
VINEYARDS The Hope Family Vineyard sits just west of Paso Robles, in the Templeton Gap. Each afternoon, ocean air snakes its way through the Santa Lucia Mountains and cools the vineyard, helping to preserve the grapes natural acidity. The dramatic diurnal swing (daily temperature variation) frequently spans 50 degrees. Planted originally in 1981 to Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, it has been replanted with hi-density spacing and is now home to Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Roussanne. In 2009, the Hope Family Vineyard was certified sustainable by the Central Coast Vineyard Team as part of their Sustainability in Practice (SIP) program. Growers who participate must document their vineyard practices and are audited by third party reviewers. Planting cover crops, using less water and employing natural wildlife corridors are just a few of the sustainability efforts used in the Hope s estate vineyard.

TASTING CELLAR The Hope family converted a portion of the Austin Hope winery on their estate property into a tasting room in 2009. After years of not operating a public tasting room in Paso Robles, it was time to create a space to showcase their wines and vineyard. A rustic barrel room with a core tin roof was transformed inside with a modern, yet understated sensibility and simplicity. Picture windows offer stunning views of the everchanging vineyard and larger-than-life barrel features draw attention to why you ve come: to simply enjoy the wine. All of the Hope Family Wines are available for tasting.
