Moreover, the Thracian region (once part from Ancient Greece) is marked by the myth of Dionysus - the God of wine and the place of death of Orpheus the legendary musician, poet and prophet. The Thrace region is famous with its unique Mavrud wine ancient red grape wine variety. Robust and productive, the Mavrud grape is locally appreciated and improves in maturing. Other grape wine varieties from Thracian Valley are: Pamid, Hamburg misket, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The region is known with its mineral spring hot waters that you can benefit. The Thracian civilization has left numerous cultural marks from Antiquity temples and tombs from IV-III centuries B.C. 5 Additional information: The city of Melnik is an architectural reserve and 96 of its buildings are cultural monuments. According to archaeological evidence, the first to settle in the area were the Thracian tribe Medi to which the famous rebel Spartacus belonged. The Slavs who later came in these parts named the settlement Melnik after the sand formations surrounding it on all sides and even today you can enjoy the so called sandstone pyramids. The area is known as one of the best for wine production and most charming Bulgarian lands with vineyards. Here you will taste wines produced from typical Bulgarian grape varieties as Shiroka Melnishka Loza, Melnik 55 and Ruen. Shiroka Melnishka Loza is a red Bulgarian wine grape variety. It is planted only in this region. The wines are often compared to Châteauneuf-du-Pape with its similar profile of spice and power. This wine was a particular favorite of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

7 Additional information: The region of Sakar Mountain is widely known for the wines produced in the area. There are more than 10 familly owned wineries. The city of Haskovo, being central for the region, is famous with the 32-metre-high monument of the Mother of God and the Infant Jesus. The mainregional historical attraction is the Thracian tomb of Aleksandrovo (4th century B.C.) On the other hand, the southeastern Bulgarian regions climatic conditions are favorable for the sufficient accumulation of sugars to produce fine semi-dry white wines. The most widely grown varieties are Muscat Ottonel, Dimiat, Chardonnay, Uni Blanc, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc (the most excellent grapes of this variety are harvested here), as well as some other varieties. The tour comprises as well a natural phenomen called The blue rocks and an UNESCO site of Nessebar. Originally a Thracian settlement, known as Menebria, the town became a Greek colony. Remains from the Hellenistic period include the acropolis, a temple of Apollo, and an agora. A wall which formed part of the fortifications can still be seen on the north side of the peninsula.

9 Additional information: The Thracian Valley is the cradle of ancient wine production. The main regional city is Plovdiv. Its history spans 6,000 years, with traces of a Neolithic settlement, ranking it among the world's oldest cities. Thracian Heroon was a sacral place for the ancient Thracians - where the wine played important role in the rituals. The Thracian Temple Complex at Starosel dates back to the end of 5th and the beginning of 4th century BC. The entrance of the temple had a parade staircase and two pedestals, on which statues of lions were sitting. The staircase leads the visitors to a flat platform, used for ritual dances. Religious ceremonies, related to the cult to the Mother Goddess, her son the Sun and Orpheus were performed in the temple.
